it's stupid; they don't need our money. Sure, they may be in poverty/developing their country. Let them fix it themselves. Let the weak die off. Sure, it sounds cruel, but it's the only thing that will stabilize the world. Only reason other countries try to help is it gives them a good image. Not because they care about them.

Exactly. As I've previously stated in another thread (I don't remember what one exactly, probably one about America), it is very important to help each other. We're all part of our one and only real world, the earth. We'll just have to learn how to live with each other.

Also, Katrina is as stupid example. The US can produce enough money to help itself after natural disasters that affect small areas of the entirety - how can you expect a small, failing country to do the same?
To be completely honest and racist, I think this is a typical American view - it seems the US produces people with capitalist burnt so much into them it turns them into people who only care about money to the point where it blurs their own morality. What's worse is it seems this idea is spreading due to a world wide recession that started with them...

Of course it's a nice idea that everyone would have food and water and a nice life, but that's just not realistic. Most people on this planet live in poverty and horrible conditions and that's how it's going to be.
The best we can be expecting after throwing tons and tons of money to Haiti is seeing a tiny part of the population get really rich in a short amount of time and the general populations quality of life remain the same.

It's your government - should have voted for a party with a less foreign-friendly stance when it comes to natural disasters.
Also, some charities do put nearly every penny towards to the end goal. Not everyone can get everything right - at first, people thought they could give it to governments until they found out how corrupt they were. Then they started using it to give food to villages etc until they found out they some villages sold the food for money or they were raided and left without food again. Then they started working on making a sustainable sauce of food, water or the like - ie building wells. Not all charities are 100% efficient, but most of the bigger ones are pretty far along. It may be worth researching a claim that charities are bad before you make it.
