simba is completely scriptable...
Hate the sin not the sinner..
In other words, hate SCAR not freddy.
Two things and I will try to keep this short. I will not quote specific people for this. We know who they are and so do they.
What I write may/not be my opinion I am not subjecting you to them. However, please stop b!tching, it is unsightly. Now...
SCAR:
-not MADE by freddy, although freddy did do an acceptable and very much appreciated job keeping it up as a one man show for a while (not open source... I believe that was his choice/fault).
-it is incorrect that SRL would not be here without freddy, it is correct that 2.03 was/is usable.
-we were told that SCAR work would be dwindling, freddy did say that Luna would take priority. Yes, this did leave SRL SOL for anything fixes related to SCAR.
-I with more compelte dedication from freddy, I am looking forward to Luna.
-even as this is true, as a community we could not just sit here and wither as we waited for Luna to (hopefully) shine.
-freddy, thank you for the work you have done with SCAR
SIMBA:
-in response to relational developments with SCAR development and the need for the community to not whither (different than wither), a fantastic & open source counterpart was born.
*yes, at this point, I did hear the circle of life music in my head:
-the point is, things change don't get pissed because SRL is not aligning to be centered on SCARQuote:
Nants ingonyama bagithi baba (There comes a lion)
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama (Oh yes, it's a lion)
Nants ingonyama bagithi baba
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama
Ingonyama
Siyo Nqoba (We're going to conquer)
Ingonyama
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Here is a lion and a tiger)
& et cetera...
-NO simba is not YET as capable as SCAR but seriously ?!? how long has it been alive/available?
-SIMBA enforces the community learning/helping ideals, and that is what the real SRL community is about.
-developers/testers, thank you for the work you have done with SIMBA
Whoa, first passage on the forums in a while, has it all turned into a warzone? (Of course, BBQ Pit etc. but what happened to not throwing blames and prove-me-wrongs around?)
2.13 for life.
Respect for freddy for doing so much for the community though.
^ 2.13 or 2.03?
2.03 wow that was a failure of a post.
Oh, hey Cheesehunk :)
Long time no see.. I guess you don't know me but that doesn't matter...
@Cigue:
aran armath is right. I was just mad at scar failing when it shouldn't :p
@anynomity:
"-NO simba is not YET as capable as SCAR but seriously ?!? how long has it been alive/available?"
I don't agree on that point.. I have to do some hardcore coding to get my functions (from my simba script) to work on scar
That point goes both ways, I have to make changes to my scar scripts for simba....
I feel that my original statement gave justice (it was a total compliment), and it was true, for how long simba has been out, it is fascinating/amazing/great how much it is able to do. As this is true, NO it does not have all the functionality and tools that scar does. That is a fact, how one wants to look at it is up to them though ;). That also being true, simba is able to do things that scar was not able to do, it is also more user friendly while coding. That again is a fact. So, yes and no, they have there differences, they are both better, and they are both worse. :)
I agree with you, the point goes both ways.. but what can Scar do that Simba can't?
Haha, you know, I could 11 days ago when I made my original point, it would have been easier for me to explain. But as I am not coding right now and am away from a computer that is capable, it will be harder.
Simba is a growing phenom and daily is better and better. Originally, there was no bitmap to string, vice versa, and so on. But that list is very much dwindling. I am truly excited to see the accomplishments and phenomenal growth.
Simba < SCAR.
It's called progress guys. People hate on the past and bum the future.
Look at politics, Guy A gets in and everyone loves him, then Guy B comes along and everyone loves him and tells A how much of a useless tool he was.
Guy A is SCAR, Guy B, SIMBA. It's how humans work.
+1 Wizzup? - it is much better that having to reinstall. I find it super convenient!
It's inconvenient in that updating could occur every day. I don't know if you're as lazy as I am or not, but I dislike having to fix things every single day. If you remember SCAR when 2.03 was out and it was stable for like a year or something, you'll understand the difference between what is convenient or not.
once simba is more or less finished (or closer to) then there will be less and less updates, although there is always something to improve in anything ;). Besides all of the updates are currently stable, meaning you don't need to update if you don't feel like it. SCAR 2.03 never released anything new for a year, there's a difference ;)
3.23 has some random errors that usually happen due to open / closing / running / stopping a bunch on times on my PC. But hey, its beta. :)... I still use 3.21, I find it more stable than the current version.
Luna works fine, except for some weird include problems that i've had (Copy working scar code into Luna... Luna finds includes, but says there's error in include.. include copy pasted.. scar works).
Simba i'll try later =D.
Progress. I'm sure if Kaitnieks decided to quit after SCAR 1.00 we may not even be here today. I haven't really taken an in-depth look at SIMBA as I just started visiting again recently, but it seems to have nearly matched the functions of SCAR. I haven't seen many benchmarks yet, but I trust the crew behind it.
I think it will be better than SCAR. Not because SCAR is junk, but because SCAR is an amazing program and any program inspired by it with an excellent active developing team and an open-source base is almost guaranteed to succeed.
Hello everybody. :)
