For how much the iPhone 4 costs, the price of a case to make it better is not that big of a deal. However, for how much the iPhone 4 costs no one should have to buy a case or hold it funny to make it work properly.

I am sorry, they may be neat, but I think they were pushed out too soon, are over priced and generally not worth it.

On the topic of the being sued. That is ridiculous. If everyone in my home town sued when their phone got bad connection or didn't work, there would be hundreds of lawsuits daily for a very long time.

All my ipods get that jack thing fucked up and you have to position the headphones jack all weird and shit and its really delicate and it gets my goat if you know what I mean

^ That's most likely due to a broken jack or your headphones don't work. It happens to all products, but they're not made like that.

anonymity, the reason this is a valid legal case is because Apple was well aware of the problem, yet didn't inform consumers. For Apple to tell users they have to buy a case for their by-default faulty phone is against the law, as the contract/terms of service/whatever doesn't say that a case needs to be bought to not have the problem arise.

AT&T is also involved, as they, apparently, helped design the antenna system, knowing that there would be problems with service.

On a better note, Verizon will be providing service to iPhone(/iPad?) users next year. :) (Not that Verizon is any better (well, it may be, I'm not sure; I have T-Mobile (which I've never had a problem with ;))), but having the option to have shit-tier AT&T or mid-tier (apparently) Verizon is great.)

^ my experience, and those of MANY friends of mine has been that if you are in the middle of no where, if verizon does not get service, then at&t definitly wont. this has mainly been tested in the central valley of california (in the country) and in yosemite (the whole seirras for that matter). and some of my friends have t-mobile - dont plan on getting service if u ever go to the mountains here in cali :P

if ur in a town though, it doesnt matter what service you have IMO.

Android users will surpass iOS within a year or two.

The only place I haven't gotten reception is Barrow, Alaska. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration - there are some dead spots up in northern Minnesota..

Except if I was buying a 600$ phone I expect it to work properly. Also the iPhone 4 looks really nice, I wouldn't want to cover that up with a case.

And if your phone literally doesn't work because of poor wireless down by your provider, maybe you SHOULD sue.

As far as I know, the Apple iPhone, or at least those that have already been produced, will only be available on AT&T. The iPhone capable of being used by Verizon customers will be a separate device.

Actually no, what Apple did was make the bars follow a illogical pattern for signal strength. They did this to make it look like you had better signal strength at times then you really did.

And no, software can not fix the problem of you physically bridging the two antennae. I don't know what makes you think that.

And about Verizon, I think I heard that the iPhone 4 will be available on Verizon, but I'm not sure. Even if it was a different version, it would be much better than the iPhone 4; the design would definitely be fixed, the service would be better, and I'm sure other things will change.

^ I wouldn't be so sure about that. If they loved the iPhone so much, they'd switch networks. If they switched to an iPhone, they'd have to buy it for full price. I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper to pay the early termination fee and switch to AT&T for the iPhone than to buy it for $600 + monthly payments.

Apple doesn't sell products based on function. When you buy a iPhone, or a iPod, you buy a BRAND, not a product. Jobs could call a shit covered brick the iPhone 5 and I bet people would buy it just because its from Apple.

I am still of the opinion that if someone spent a bunch of money on the iphone, buying a case won't break their back. Also it would help increase its lifespan.

Well we know that these devices are not secure, there have already been demonstrations of security problems in phones. I think once the first big virus hits mobile devices, it will be a large landslide from there.

The question then becomes, who will be better at handling the situation?

The only thing is not many people store anything of importance on their phones. So for a widespread virus to happen, it would be for no point. And the only people who are smart enough to do something like this would be someone who does it for a point (usually).

Also, there are many different phones. Many different ways of them working, and the only way I think this could become a problem is if it was sent to every contact they had. To be honest, I'm sure that EVERY single phone would be infected by this if it were spread to all contacts. And I believe that would be difficult for the hacker to do.

Switching networks isn't very easy, you have to go waste lots of time to drop one and join another, not to mention you may have to pay more money, and some people have a personal obligation to stay with one network. Plus, I have AT&T and it isn't that good, except i have a 3gs so i can deal with it, but if I was on Verison with a DRoiD, I wouldn't switch. And now that Iphone is going to Verison, I'm willing to bet anything, all those Droid fans who talk trash are gonna be lining up at apple's Door. Droid is a very good phone, and is a close 2nd to the Iphone, but doesn't beat it.

How do you know every one else is going to have? I can see phones with Cameras higher than 10MP before the end of the year, expecially before iphone5 comes out /next year/
How is the Evo the only competitor? How is it not good enough?
Look at the Samsung Galaxy S. It has a humming bird gpu. Producing way more polygons a second than an Iphone could have ever dreamed of. The iphone4 screen is better than a Super AMOLED screenby 5%, but uses 35% more power.

Im still fairyl drunk so idk if your on apple or android side, but with a lot of androiod phones your able to switch out the stock batter for a better battery, so I don't really think its fair to say the iphone 4 has a better battery when you can spend a extra 30$ and get a real nice battery from some chinese ebay shop that will last you 5 years.

Maybe I'm just an Ebay noob, but a quick search garnered no results for a battery well over 1750mAh for less than $50 (only 1500mAh's, but I'm not a fan of carrying around several batteries). And if there were, I doubt I'd feel comfortable buying from some unknown shop in China.

^ I would have to disagree with that. You would be shocked/surprised at how many people use their phones for business email, storing passwords, making online payments, and the like. If there was something that presented a major security flaw, there would be information to get from many many phones.

With all the insider info on which phone will come out with what: do you have a legit price tag for all of that? I still think that they are too expensive to be worth all of the cool things I can do on my computer when I get home.

I wouldn't ever do any sort of banking or anything of importance on my phone. That seems foolish to me.
