I am not a big debater on this type of issue because I like some Apple products and dislike others.
I personally dislike the iPhone because I do think Android on a phone is much better.
I own a Macbook Pro and before obviously was a PC person. My Macbook pro is almost a year old now and still runs just as fast as the day I bought it. I have never had another laptop that has ever lasted this long, speed wise. I like the UI that mac osx, along with their touchpad and the options that come with it. AFAIK, no other computer has as great of a touchpad with so many options for it.
I recently bought an iPad 2 also but that was mainly for specific reasons for certain things that I have coming up in the near future. I do enjoy having this product around though, for more than just entertainment use.
I don't see why so many people hate on Apple, like others have said, I have never had a bad experience with them and I have had bad experience with other computer companies (DELL in particular, HP has been good).
Are they overpriced, maybe. But imo it's worth the extra money. I see people using Macs that are years old because they simply don't need to be replaced yet since they still run good. Are they outdated software/hardware wise, yes possibly but they still run good. I don't see any PCs from years ago that still run well, if run at all. I know my experience is that any PC usually takes a turn for the worse after roughly a year (happens to almost everyone I know, not exaggerating, even happens at work). So in the long run, if you want to have a computer that still has good speed and operates nicely, you will probably end up spending less having a mac.
Also, most people here are people who use their Desktops at home and saying that Mac/Apple products are shit. Being in college and leaving for class @ 8am and being on campus and in classes until 9pm somedays having a Mac is extremely useful. I have 3 classes back-to-back-to-back (total of 6 hours) and my Mac lasts through all of them being able to takes notes, record the lectures and browse the internet when I want. I know this is battery life (which people have already said is better) but for the use that I use it for, $600-700 is well worth it.
My laptop gets almost 5 hours of H.264 playback. Six to seven hours on the internet depending on what sites I look up(and my battery is only a six cell 55 Wh, so Apple can probably fit a bigger battery in). So Apple are definitely not the only people who can get good battery life out of their hardware. When you look past the shit that some companies shovel in your face you can find a lot of capable hardware. But most people don't care about researching their purchase. Most people don't look after their shit after they've bought it. How many people do you think even change the oil in their car?
