Been listening to it since it dropped. I personally think it's much better than Relapse, in terms of theme and lyrical content.

What would you rate it as?

I think it's better than Relapse and equal if not slightly above Encore.

1. COLD WIND BLOWS - Kinda funny, nice intro and Em changes his flow a bit as well.

2. TALKIN’ 2 MYSELF FEAT. KOBE - Kobe isn't the basketball player, unfortunately, but this track has a nice instrumental. Nice story, I wish he dissed kanye and lil wayne.

3. ON FIRE - Just weird lol.

4. WON’T BACK DOWN FEAT. P!NK - Didn't find this one particularly nice, maybe because of the beat, lyrical content was good.

5. W.T.P. - lol.

6. GOING THROUGH CHANGES - I like this song very much, he's done the same as he did with 'Beautiful' by sampling other artists. Nicely crafted.

7. NOT AFRAID - Main tune, other people love this record, I just didn't find the beat that catchy but the lyrics were good, got a few good lines from that one.

8. SEDUCTION - 'like a verbal seduction'

9. NO LOVE FEAT. LIL WAYNE - Wooo, love this tune. Personally, Eminem killed Lil Wayne (you can hear him swearing on Em's verse). Also wtf was Wayne yapping on about, it had no sense lol. Definitely recommended. Sampling from Haddaway's What Is Love. Just 2 massive verses around 2 hooks, payed off well :)

10. SPACE BOUND - wtf is the chorus. Eminem's flow is good - as always

11. CINDERELLA MAN - Nice song haha. Catchy instrumental and the humming is pro.

12. 25 TO LIFE - I don't like this one very much, don't find it catchy.

13. SO BAD - This is another Relapse type tune, nice hook. Very catchy after a few listens.

14. LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE FEAT. RIHANNA - Very good hook, nice video (if you've seen it). Proper lyrics and good beat.

16. YOU’RE NEVER OVER - This is the song dedicated to proof, probably my favourite off the whole album.

Overall, this is definitely recommended to anyone who loves proper Rap, not auto tuned shit. Lyrical content is on the high, he kills metaphors and uses so much word play, experiments with his flow and rhyming quite a bit.
On the other hand, this is missing Dre's production with Boi-1-Da, Just Blaze and DJ Khalil taking the brunt of production work. I guess it probably wasn't a good idea, but that's my view.
There's a few off-ish tracks, but the rest of the tracks support the album very well. A very satisfying listen for anyone.

8/10 overall, looking forward to more.

I Love the whole album, its also better then relapse to me. I would also give the whole album a 8.0/10, because it has some songs that just don't ring along the first couple of listens. Great songs overall.

I love the album too, got it when it leaked 5 days b4 its original release date. Then I went to buy it from the store.

The thing that pissed me off, is how is making himself too humble and in some terms soft. I mean why didnt he go at Lil wayne or Kanye? They BOTH needed to use auto-tune to rise to fame.

I dont understand why people didnt like the Relapse album, and I dont know why he is trashing it. The accents he used were irritating at first, but the lyrics and beats were insane!

I love Recovery but to me, Relapse>Recovery and its neutral with Encore.

The thing I can't understand Lil Wayne, he can't freestyle, yet he's clearly intelligent with his lyrics, but the meaning of it just counters that image. Kanye, meh apparently he did 50 Cent.
But yeah Eminem should go for it, even that fat crap.. Rick Ross was stating he might go after Eminem.

Meh, Relapse didn't sprawl many hits and let's be honest - most of the lyrical content wasn't a 15 - 14 yr olds dream, from example Insane.
Recovery is more catchy. Underground from Relapse is lyrical slaughter tho.

Eminem is a lyrical master, without a doubt.

The thing everyone needs to realize with Recovery, Relapse, and Encore and before, is the Drug usage. He was addicted to pharmaceutical pills, in case you never caught on to that. Not only was he doing Pain killers, but also pills called Valium and Xanax, which are prescribed for high anxiety. An abundance of those kind of pills really messes with someones emotions.

I speak from experience here and although it was in the past, I remember it well. If anyone has ever gone through a drug addiction you will understand perfectly his change in attitude/music from Encore and later.


My opinion, his 3 best records are currently Slim Shady LP, Marshall Mathers LP, and Recovery. If you have a chance though, I would recommend everyone listen to his not so talked about Infinite LP from waaayyy back in the day :)

I enjoyed relapse except for the fact that it was his first CD where he didn't rap with feeling. Most of his tracks were about raping women, or hearing demons haha, which I don't mind listening to but gets to be meh after a while.

As for recovery, I absolutely love it. I would call it one of his best (not specifically his best).

I like all his songs, except for won't back down, I hate pink I dunno why.

Space bound is my favorite song on the track easily, and Naum I don't get how you can't understand the chorus,

It's the second best full album I have heard for a while. KiD CuDi - Man on the Moon: The End of the Day is just so much better...but that's a personal opinion and he isn't exactly mainstream.

Space Bound is the best song on the album. I just love the lyrics. Cinderella Man and No Love are second and third, even though Lil Wayne didn't have the best verse of his career. I am sick of Not Afraid and Love The Way You Lie because they are played ALL the time on my local radio stations, but the first couple hundred times I heard them they were good :P

Definitely a must-have addition to anyone's musical library.

Aww man, people don't realise how KiD CuDi is soo underrated :(, he's had quite a bit of mainstream exposure in comparison to other artists tho.

You have to understand too though that Wayne is rather f*cked up when he "raps" as well.

Main difference is that Em was still good when he was high, Wayne isn't, he sold out too much.

He used to be mine, but he is too mainstream for me. I just can't stand it when an innocent 16 year old mormon girl is singing along to the same song I am. I listened to 'no love', it was ok. I didn't particularly enjoy it. Lil wayne is not very creative in his verse. Unless there's some deeper meaning that I missed. Only listened to it once, so.

Listened to 'not afraid' next, it was better. The verses are much better than the hook imo. Group(crowd) vocals can be very powerful if used correctly. He could have done a better job with this.

Listening to You're never over right now. Gotta say I love it. This song has it all, powerful lyrics, creative beat, strong message, puns, great flow. group vocals executed better as they are used more rarely and have better placement but still not to their full potential.

Listened to beautiful before, if I remember correctly it was decent.

Ncds bro there're many artists which are more intelligent and better overall like lowkey. Eminem is the only good mainstream rapper.

:) I have this argument with people all the time. I just feel that I can relate to Em the most I guess. You know better than anyone that I listen to a variety, and I was not really trying to say he is the best, just that he's my personal favorite :)

Thats what I'm scared of... I feel Eminem is going a bit too main stream. Sometimes the money and the fame catch up. Right now his Recovery album is destroying the charts and you see him on the news alot now, more than before tbh.

I mean everyone thought Drake's Debut album was going to go Platinum first week. But anyway, I hope Eminem can start rapping with D12 soon like the good old days. Hopefully he backs off from the main stream crap. Hes the only artist that can make an album go platinum 1st week, and not have any of the records on it played on the radio.

He doesn't choose to be "main stream" or not. It all depends on who listens to his music. He hasn't really changed anything.

Em has always rapped about his life, he's sober now and having different feelings about certain thing's, but still putting his life in to awesome lyrical rhythm.

I rewrote this post several different times. I just will say, eminem's music speaks to me. All albums, i can pick at LEAST 2 songs that i can pick up, and put use to my life experiences.

This album has 1 or 2 cheesy songs that I can see how it could be labeled "main" stream. But some of it is freaking awesome.

I've never really listened to Eminem. Mainly because the only other people I see listening to him are preppy white girls in SUVs. But what do I know, maybe they gangsta. Not to say he isn't talented, though. I've been meaning to get to his older stuff because apparently that's quite good, but I haven't got around to it. This new album, though...

It's definitely "mainstream". I only listened to "No Love", but I didn't expect it to get much better. Em may still rap "as well" as he ever has, but whoever is producing lays down some downright silly beats and effects. Never mind that everyone else but Em seemed to be dead asleep the way they were rapping. They got WRECKED.

Lowkey is aight too I guess, he just doesn't rub me the right way. Usually don't like UK hip-hop. It just lacks something, I find.

Amazing album, but I liked relapse too. When Eminem raps in the second verse of No Love it's the best part of the album. I can't say it's my favorite song cause I hate Lil Wayne... Maybe my second favorite album of him, after Eminem Show.

It's good but nothing can beat his older CD's. His last CD was terrible. If you like crack a bottle i apologize for your taste in music.

Take a look at "Sky Bound" it's my favourite on the album, easily. Or "Not Afraid", there is some really good lyrics in there. I listen to music for the lyrical content more than the effects, so I really like this album, but if you listen to it for the sound effects and background vocals, you wont like much music anyway..

His mainstream music is some of his worst (or at least middle of the road). Listen to "Soundtrack to my life" and "Pursuit of happiness" or "The Prayer". All of them are excellent songs, and I've never heard them on a radio, or on any MP3 playlist other than mine and my friend's. His best raps are the most unknown, IMO.

I'm not a massive fan of the UK accent in rap, that's true, but politically conscious rappers are always awesome. I listened to the album "Best of Lowkey" again, and it's better than I originally thought. I've sorta had a bias against UK rap ever since Professor Green :redface: I just find that UK rap lacks the soul that it's N. American counterpart has. There are definately some UK producers I love though.

@KuDi: I listened to those other songs, and that's definitely still mainstream.

@Eminem: Those other songs are better. It's still too simplified for me.

As for those of you who don't really pay attention to instrumentals... DO IT! There are some crazy-talented producers out there. The DJ is half of the outfit, don't forget. Hell, without their producer, there are rappers that wouldn't even be worth listening to.

@Producers; Sooo true, for example Best I Ever Had and Over by Drake wouldn't be loved half as much without Boi-1da's production.
Apart from soul, no one can deny Lowkey and Eminem's lyrical ability and free-styling skills.

What UK producers do you prefer? Personally, I like Sivey and Faith SFX (even though he's a beat boxer) they're fairly low-key producers, hahahha.
I'm not sure if they're well known across the pond.
