Where do you get your free music/movie?

Well im at a loss to getting music and movies at the moment as my brother use to do it and now he's moved away and im not sure where he went. So if you would be kind enouth to tell me where do you get your music and stuff? Also if its invite only maybe i could get a invite please?

I couldn't when I was in highschool. I didn't really ever have money to spend. Now I have a job and I must say +1. Really it is the most 'secure' option.

This is what I do :

Listen to an artist on youtube.
--If I like it : go buy an album with the songs I liked on it.
--If not : don't buy.

I don't have a job or anything, just a passion for music.


Also, I don't watch movies, they're just irrelevant.

I used to download stuff, but that was to really 'preview things' I can say that because I have gone back and paid for the things that I use. I think that if someone makes some thing nice, it is fantastic if they share; there are programs that I am willing to pay for though. And music if it is worth listening to then it is worth buying it to listen to it. I view purchasing something as 'voting' everytime I buy something I am saying 'I like this product and want more of it'. As such it is nice to support artists.

I agree with this, i do this with a lot of artists and a few movies (It takes a lot for me to like a movie) like Fight Club and Inception.

Folks, Piracy is illegal and has no place at SRL last I checked.

Then support indie artists who publish thru CD Baby/ just through iTunes. Without the record label in between, they make 70%

When you cut out that middle man, you make sooo much more. Digital distribution is the indie artists dream come true. You get some fall out from piracy, but most people will buy your stuff if they respect your work

iTunes is almost just as bad as record labels.

Not actually!
It's 30% to itunes, 70% to the artist, as compared to what ends up being closer to 10% for the artist when you go through record labels

First of all, why does the money matter? As long as they can pay their taxes, rent, food, water, bills, etc., why does it matter? I know if I were to make music and try to get people to listen to it, money would be the last thing I worried about.

Not everything's about cash, man. Shit sucks that way.
