for all non belivers.. it is possible by executing commands via runescape client console! there is commands that made for regular users ( us ) and staff members ( golden crowns ) the commands that we can run is: help, commands, displayfps etc..

I have seen "Real hacker" what ever you wan't to call it. First of all they never showoff. They do things for their own experience. If someone truly is "hacking" Jagex servers. He / She will get his / hers ass busted very quickly. + Why all people think that when you prompt CMD up then you are hacking :P

Runescape has been hacked before, and it could happen again, but odd's are a kid at the School library wouldnt be able to do it, or atleast not in a limited amount of time. But yes, it is possible...

Dude.....

Pranking people in the computer lab that they were being hacked using "net send" was all the rage 10 years ago man.

Epic H4x brooo! haha. The kid probably was watching his telnet of "towel.blinkenlights.nl" while playing RS or something.

Net send was a command that you could send to every computer thats linked on a server. You can type whatever message you want and send it would pop up on everybodys computer. :p I did it like 8th grade, my teacher flipped, hilarious :).

On topic: I guarantee there's a way to hack runescape, the people who can truly do it will most likely not say HEY I HACKED RUNESCAPE, FREE GPS for obvious reasons. Ex: Fally Massacre. But they will probably just use it for personal gain. Artmoney, Hex editors only do client side stuff for the most part, so you might have been witness to that, or as others have said private server.

It's called hex editing, what you saw wasnt the cmd (most likely, it could have been a cmd based hex editor though that would just hurt my brain) more or less you check for a value, change it slightly and check again to be sure you have the correct value. Once you find it you can edit the value as you see fit (client-side).

First of all, many private servers have money pouches, money pouches are in the cache as they are an interface. Second of all, this thread makes powerbot look like a community of Einsteins. Third of all, you can't do anything that affects the actual game with the command prompt.

First of all, private servers don't have world 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and so on that you can log on too. Second of all, I'm telling the truth and I can post my opinion how ever I want, and just because it sounds so rare doesn't mean you have to troll it. Third of all, nothing is impossible.

LoL, besides the fact that you would need tons of different software to even be able to get on the server side of Runescape, I'm pretty sure the computer at the LIBRARY has some kind of restriction to opening the command prompt. Ahh, But a good story. Interesting thing to fool your friends with. Private servers are updating their own games to look as real as can be nowadays. Technology is fascinating! I mean look where SRL has gotten!!! =P

Even I, 13, have found hacking tools to make admin accounts, bypass websites, open cmd on school computers. I doubt a hacker wouldn't be able to do it.

Anything can be hacked, one just needs to be determined enough to do it. I doubt that he actually hacked Runescape, especially at a school. Most of you where not around back in the day of AR, but that is a example.

its clearly hex-editing... I can make a video of a hex editer that runs from the cmd and edit the money in my pouch/inventory. I could also make it appear as if I have 987654321 health and -123456789 prayer points remaining. How has nobody heard about that? Back in the day that was a feasible hack for many games, and still is for most offline games.

Oh come on, not everyone lives in fantasy land and plays Runescape all day.
Maybe it is possible by a kid.. who loves computers, programming, hacking, networks, etc.. I don't know. It's possible for a kid to do nuclear reactions, etc.

It does sound like what that other guy said about using cmd to hex edit addresses, though. You saw him pasting, using notepad, and money going into his pouch.
So that leaves out mudding..

Now on to the improbable. There was a pouch update. Whenever something new comes into play, so do potential vulnerabilities (usually). Think about it.. maybe there's something different about having money added to your pouch, than just adding money to your "gold coins." Then again, maybe Dejavu is just screwing with us.

Edit: I guess I can expand on this to give one possible case. Let's say the client sends a packet to the server when money is added to the pouch. Packet edit, change, done. (No security checks by Jagex..)
Now, since most good games are server side, let's say you edit the money value you put in your pouch to be negative. Now we are manipulating a vulnerability in the game's code because it fails to handle commands properly. This is a bug.

The most common vulnerability areas in games have been saving/loading (duplicating) and negative numbers (money, usually)

I bet Dejavu finds out it was just hex editing and never tells us.
