guilty crown is not based on genius like death note or code geas but is somthing of the same stile, a divine power falls from the sky to a inocent person then this person is corrupted by power but he thinks is the best for thw comunity. so you will have very goo ethic dilemas.
My favorite is full metal alchemist but is not that elavorated.

Steins Gate is very cool! is about time jumps and those dilemas (you what hppens if you where your grand father, not exactly but something like that) and its about a genious (crazy one)
high school dxd if you like echi, it has a good history and and fansub ;) its about angels vs fallen angels vs demons.

Clannad (The first few episodes are amazing, it gets 'Less amazing' after that, but picks up later, in my opinion anyway.),

I'm not sure if the on-going remake of HunterxHunter is good not. But you could check it out too,
Evangelion series (Watch the originals before you watch the reboots),
Evangelion reboot series ('Kid-i-fied' but very beautiful version of Evangelion. They leave a lot of details out though. So that's why you want to watch the original series first. The reboots are 1.11 and 2.22. You want those ones Along with 3.33 when it comes out. As those are the blu-ray releases where they include the scenes that were cut out from the standard non blu-ray releases),
Summer Wars (This is a great movie),
Black Lagoon,
Black Lagoon sequels,
Freezing (This is a very 'Horny' anime. But the story is amazing and the artwork is great. Oh and the music is absolutely awesome.),

Last anime I watched was Hellsing OVA, I am sure it does not fit your requirements, but whatever.
Kiba the main character Zed is/becomes stronger then anyone, its about freedom and finding peace.

Can't go wrong with pretty much all these animes mentioned... some personal favorites that I don't think have been really mentioned are: FMABrotherhood (&FMA) (some of my all time favs), Welcome to the N.H.K. (all eps are on youtube, very funny and interesting), Angel Beats! (great short anime worth checking out), Yu Yu Hakasho (oldie but a goodie), Samurai Champloo and Rurouni Kenshin (great Samurai animes), another very short but really funny anime is Golden Boy (but it has a lot of "fanservice" so...depends if you are okay with that sort of thing).
Anyway, I love anime and would also love suggestions on some new ones for everyone to check out.
P.S. my top 3 are (1) Death Note, (2) FMA: B, (3) Airbender

Hmm. Naruto is good, but there are a LOT of fillers. If you skip them, its really good. Once the anime catches up with the the current manga, it will be epic.
One Piece is really good as well.
Since im 1/2 japanese, I can watch it all with out subs/dubs :D

I just would like to take the opportunity and thank to those that advised steins gate 2 thing:
1st: The amazing time the anime gave me as I really like this type of story.
2nd: My 2 failed exam that I have to repeat.
I have watched more anime than I care to admit. I am about 1/2 through death note. Right now I am watching:
Fairy Tail (man there is some fantastic cleavage in this show) ... its long and there are a few download sites that bundle 100+ episodes.
Naruto Shippudden (taka fan subs) I think there are 190+ episodes out and Taka just released 181 today. AMAZING anime that I have watched since it came out ... a couple times actually.
Death Note - Kinda taken the back burner to Fairy Tail
I have seen quite a lot of the shows mentioned ... Lain is definitely a weird show so it might be right up your alley if you like Death Note. Some of my personal all time favorites are Kenshin, Cowboy BeBop, Fullmetal Alchemist, and DB DBZ. I have downloaded but havent watched Sword Art yet but have heard nothing but good things.
