Well it appears that Andrew has indeed sold Jagex and Runescape included to a company based in New York called 'US firm Insight Venture Partners'.
I guess this explains the recent updates. Well, money is king.

Insight Venture Partners have a portfolio of lots of random stuff, doubt they care what occurs inside the game. I mean, these guys own part of twitter.

No, silly silly CEO, the reason why more capital is needed is because so many people are sick and fed up with the trashy updates which they provided, so they quit. They also somewhat brought this upon themselves by permanently banning a LOT of members(which may have been botted accounts, but still that was revenue coming into the company). I honestly hope the game turns around for the better... Maybe you'll be able to just buy gold soon enough.Quote:

It looks like we have a new game to root for. Andrew wanted to keep RuneScape clean, and not sell gold since that would introduce a new audience into RuneScape. One he had seen taint other games, like WoW.
If runescape goes down hill, we can assume this new game will be as runescape was previously.
They have no-one to blame but themselves. Blaming us/other botters is not an excuse for the state of the game.
Pretty sure andrew hasn't been part of Jagex for at least a year now.
Andrew may not have been a public part, but I believe he was head of directors until recently. He only just now gave up ownership.
They basically still own the game, they just needed money and so they brought in a VC (Venture Capitalist). Unless the 75M shares was more than 49% of shares.
The company already owned %30 of Jagex before buying these extra shares. They are now the main shareholders holding more than %50 of the companyQuote:

Hm.. Question is if they are going to be 100% about the money. If they are, it's rather possible "Optimus" will never come to be and bots will come back to what they were. More bots = more "players" = more members = more $$.
Once a VC owns your company, it's always about the money.

They put so much money into destroying bots, but what they didn't know was, bots bring in more revenue (Membership) than anything else in the game!
