So last night I was chatting with a Jmod for nearly 2 hours. We got on the subject of bot nuke, etc.
So something I didn't know that Jagex sold nearly 50% of their company to a investment firm. I asked why they would sell half of their company and he responded back with.... " We had nearly 350,000 paid memberships monthly, after the nuke the memberships drop nearly 75% "
Something I can relate to is something called PNL. What PNL is, Profit & Loss if your loss over powers your profit then you are losing money...So when you have 350k memberships then drop to less then 120k memberships that can hurt a company badly.... They understand that the auto community is the one reason why Jagex makes there money but as you can see a new company has been pushing for bigger payouts.
The spin the wheel crap is from the firm, the refer your friend for 10% more xp is the same garbage, they are really hard up for the memberships.
So I asked him, who is the target for the bot nuke and his response was " ones who are messing up the market " Literally he said, bot nuke never would have ever happened if the players of RS didn't put up a huge front on the forums...It forced Runescape to ban a large amount of the bots... Runescape isn't stupid right now they have a choice, let the bots to gain levels or let the bots gold farm and destroy the market that they built over a decade to build...
Needless to say they are spending more money investing Runescape in other areas which means you'll see a few more games like the spin game; the firm is always now holding 50% of the game which means before any updates that will cost time for the designers, testers, and tech builders the other half has to agree to it...But if they aren't making any money right now what will tell them from investing more money into a game to update it if they are losing money after the Nuke....
They know once the Nuke hits in July it will clear a large percent of there paid memberships which only hurts them...If Jagex was content with the membership status they wouldn't have sold half there company off after last years Nuke, and with this Nuke coming shortly what doesn't make Jagex think that they aren't going to lose the memberships again? They know once they ban them a large percentage of customers wont be paying again....
That is like taking a liquor license away from a strip club, the liquar is what supports the company, the men come and buy drinks with a 120% mark up value...That's how they stay afloat and unfortunately RS is in business right now due to the auto community...
