Random Events... not so random

Hey everyone,

I should start with saying that I have been scripting (mostly) at the SW bank for the last couple of weeks. Of course I do this because there will not be any randoms to interrupt my progress. As you might know, everytime you leave the SW bank you get a random within a moment or two.

So what's happening here is pretty simple. EVERY single random event that I have had in the past eight days (which is many) has been the abyssal teleport one. You know, where you have to find the odd lever and pull it.

Can anyone explain what is going on here? Has my account been flagged in some way? Should I be concerned? It just seems really out of the ordinary.

Idk, my last 2 randoms were both abyssal randoms too, but it has nothing to do with being flagged, I think.

I think it's just dumb luck, sometimes I will get 2-3 of the same randoms in a row.

Weirdly enough, The only randoms I have this week are Abyss too o.O

The only reason I bothered to post is because I think this is far more than "Dumb luck". I'm not talking like two or three of these in a row. At this point it must be at least 30-40 in a row.

It just seems very out of place.

You are more likely to get a random if you have been playing for an extended period of time without being able to recieve one (i.e. SW bankchest). Or if you are training a skill that has a high xp/hr rate.

The account will most likely be flagged if the random it recieves after this extended period of time at SW bank is failed. But if you complete the random successfully I would suggest there is a lesser but still possibility that your account can be flagged.

Every single random I've gotten has been abyss too, I guess it's jagex's way of making our lives easier.

I always get the one for the quizes.

I don't think so.. I just got yet again another abyss too.

Strange. My last 3-4 randoms were the same.

I just thought it was because the bot was solving the other randoms and the abyss one was one that the bot couldn't solve. It's been happening for about a week on my low level main. I'm not sure what is going on.

Confirmed. Only Abyss at Bank. Witnessing the same behavior here.

A lot of my clanmates (all maxed and legit) also are getting abyss random very commonly. Don't think it means that you're being flagged or watched by jagex.

Is it possible that they are phasing out the other randoms as they head toward removing them altogether and therefore you have a significantly greater chance of recieving the abyssal random due to there being very few others?

Yeah I thought that might be the case too. Seems strange why they wouldn't remove all randoms at once though.
I guess there would be a thread on the RSF about this.

I got abyss x3 now all in one night I think many legits are getting abyss as well so must just be a new thing with jagex

Well It's not like I mind too much because it is the easiest one to solve.

I also find it very convienent for scripting in other places as well. It seems like Simba does not have a problem solving the abyss random at all.

I noticed that SRL couldn't actually solve the Abyss random when I started to get it. Only yesterday I started to get all the randoms again. I've got a feeling that it's got something to do if they somehow know what is being failed by bots, they are going to use that random to try stop bots a bit more.

I've spend extremely long times in random events when writing solvers or updating the solvers. Yet I have never been banned or flagged. Unfortunately I get very few random events and when I finally get one it is one of the randoms that have good solvers already. I've been running three accounts at RuneSpan around 10/7 but I only found myself stuck in a random once per 2-3 days . Botting wise that is great, but for myself as scripter/developer it's annoying :P

Even though I have been in the Molly Random Event for like 30 hours I'm not getting that one more often than others. I barely get the Evil Twins :(

Jagex's new bot detection system is a fail. it doesn't do it's job.

I aswell have had the abyss only, 3-5 times.

i was thinking this also, i cant remember the last time i got a random other than the abyss! i sometimes struggle to do if rofl, sometimes i continually fail it, even when legiting, i swear the bots solve these easier than legits.

I have had the drill demon, maze, and the classroom quiz pop up on a very very rare occassion.. however I can also report that the overwhelming trend has been the abyss..... I thought I was just being crazy before reading this... lol
