It definitely doesn't use your external IP, because mine changes all the time and I'm fine. I assumed it used your mac address, but maybe not then
It could use the MAC address of the network card, or something similar. Since it won't change, and there will never be a copy of it.
My ip is dynamic and jag always seems to work, I think it's to do with your computer ip or a device because smart required me to add it to the safe list.
My guess is that it's about one of the files that they put into your computer, like the random.dat file and the LIVE folders. Would explain SMART's issue.Quote:
