It sounds great now but bringing back the older servers will be like how Jagex kept RS Classic, but it'll take longer to die out. Especially since you have to start from scratch and no new updates will be applied and bugs will probably be delayed in patching.
Well he never specifically promised a pre-EOC server. I guess we have to wait and see how this goes. :)
imo you should be able to world hop from old to new servers.. and just can't use items in old servers if they didn't exist yet. The end, not too hard.. same as member items get disabled in non mem
new combat system can just appear on some servers, and then the old servers won't have it.. there can be 2006 servers where stuff is actually hard and you can lose your stuff in wilderness etc etc
If they go through with this, I can see some of the staff who worked on the EoC quitting. Imagine all those hours you put in go to waste. Also, it was split the community even more
If they do this then RS will suck slightly more... economy will go to shit and people will go to 06servers. Then when 06servers start to get too many players people will switch and the roller coaster goes on and on. This is going to suck.

I am actually interested to see how this will turn out, if it happens at all. I don't think starting from scratch will be a big issue, tons of people started from scratch when they joined 06 rsps. And EOC wouldn't be wasted, I'm sure many people will stay and play both.
You do lose all your stuff if you die in the wilderness in EoC.
@Everyone: Calm down.. it's not going to happen. Where do you get that idea from?.. Posting threads with false ideas is pointless and there was already another thread made about this statement. Things like this are how the update with dungeoneering turned into a gambling update which its not lol. Mod Mark already said before that having the pre-EoC RS alongside EoC wouldnt work.

I guess it would be harder for them to make new content then. They should make combat updates for both old and new servers.
And if they stopped updating the old servers there could be a massive botting problem. Like imagine if people could just bot fish and ores on rsc and trasfer to rs2.
To be honest, I really don't want to see multiple (different revision) servers up. The game is updated on a consistent basis. If this were to happen, then unless more people are hired, the less updates for the servers that are placed online. Besides, if the 2006 server was added then, in my opinion, everyone should start fresh just for that. They would still have their accounts on the updated game servers. This is just to stop people being self righteous with their wealth and stats, not too mention the numerous exploits that could occur with newer items that weren't around back then.
Tl;dr - I don't like the idea.

I played Classic and 06 and now, and honestly, never went back to classic. I think the same will happen with 06, especially with having to start over. The lack of players may deter people as well.
I hate that petition, I like his ideals, but he has manipulated his subscribers by fabricating statistics and having such a negative attitude towards Jagex.
If someone could please actually give me some good solid arguments for why the EoC is "bad", then I'd be happy to read.
EoC has made runescape WoW like. If I wanted to play WoW I would, but I don't like WoW.
The simple gameplay that rs provided was what I liked. You didn't have to pay too much attention to it and could still do other things like watch tv and talk to other people. They keep making the game more and more complicated. Now when you do combat related things, all you're focusing on is constant clicking of your abilities. I find I'm not even watching what my character does but watching the ability bar and if I actually clicked an ability or not. It's so lame to me. Can't talk to other people cause your fingers are clicking the abilities. Can't watch tv because if you take your eyes of a monster for a second, you'd get killed instantly, and can't hold conversations with others because im too focused on the stuff mentioned. Not to mentioned when you go bossing how hard it is to kill them now. They have tooooooo damn much HP. If you want a good drop from a boss you need to kill him at least 500 times, (NOT BEING ACCURATE JUST THROWING A FIGURE OUT THERE), but snce they take forever to kill, it just doesn't seem worth doing anymore. It's just frustrating. After some people like me who have spent so damn much time in this game (currently 230days gameplay, others having even more or less), mind you yes ive botted but most of my skills are legit, then having something you enjoyed doing changed COMPLETELY different just makes me mad.
This is my personal reasons I hate the EoC.
EoC requires more attention? Have you used the ability bar for skilling at all? It makes it require less attention in certain situations. As for combat, just use momentum for non-bosses if you don't feel like using abilities. And as for bosses being harder, level 85 armour and level 90 weapons have come out since EoC, so of course bosses gonna get a boost too. Bosses are meant for high leveled players anyways. Now I dont have nex or PoP armour and I only just got some drygores, but I could still manage the bosses fine with lvl 70-80 gear. You need to learn how to use the abilities.and the new system to your advantage. High lvl summoning/prayer/herblore helps too.
In my personal opinion, the only situation prior to EoC when you'd "AFK" was on slayer, or just general killing of basic mobs. You can still do that, by using momentum, and it is literally identical to the times before EoC, except considerably more balanced. When it comes to bossing, you wouldn't ever AFK anyway, or you definitely shouldn't be able to. Also, your point about how long it takes to kill a boss. No offence, but have you tried bossing? It's the same speed, if not faster on a lot of mobs. Although I disagree with the idea of "camping" a boss. However, IMO, unique drops are far too rare, they should be a common drop, but boss trips should last for 2 or 3 kills at most.
The problem is that people got far too used to the idea of "AFKing" combat, that is not what a game should be like. You should be engaged with the system, enjoying it, which is what you get now.
Also, I have more than my fair share of WoW play time, and I can assure you that the combat system is incredibly dissimilar from RuneScape. The one thing Jagex needs to take from Blizzard is their customer support.
1. Bugs: the combat system is very buggy. It can be fixed, but the current state of it is sh*t.
2. Fun part: I really dont enjoy spamming the numbers and see some hits occasionally. I know you do the same thing in
WOW/GW2 but you actually have fun by watching the nice effects and the environment. You dont camp at a place for hours to kill a monster, theres more variety in WOW/GW2. Theres no fun killing a monster in RS EOC! So boring and annoying!
3. PVP part: the combat triangle is fully balanced, okay, but what about the gears? Have a look at f2p: rune full is like 150k, batwig set is like 30k and blue dhide set is like 10k. Why would anyone use full rune? Also the single/multi switching in wilderness is a joke, multi pking is 100% dead. And thanks to nearly doubled combat level its a lot harder to find someone your level to fight with!
4. Combat level/combat skills: it is all nonsense! You cant compare two accounts by their combat levels, they say nothing about them. Also the equipment stats says that you get +1 damage per strength level...this is a joke. No motivation to get 80str if I can hit nearly same with 50str. Melee has two skills, while ranged and mage has only one. How is this balanced? They could just remove the Attack skill no point of having both.
1. That is a big issue, although I've found that almost everything has been ironed out, it's a shame that it was released with the bugs though.
2. Really, you don't enjoy it? I find it nice that you have to focus and think about abilities, while still being able to AFK with Momentum there for you.
3. Yeah, that whole switching between single and multi-way combat is really bad, it's broken the whole fun of the wilderness, as has the removal of skulls, some people relied on being the attacked. However, outside of the wilderness, combat is so much more fun. For example, duels are so much fun, really intense, fast paced. I recommend you try it.
4. I am massively against the current combat level calculation, I'd honestly completely forgotten about it. I'm almost 200 now, and I should realistically still be a fair way off max :/ Now, I think Attack should remain, but should affect the accuracy of all 3 combat styles. It's dumb that melee has two skills for it, but it's a bit too integrated it seems.
Like i said, if i wanted to play an engaging game I would switch to WoW or something else. Not all games are "engaging" and people like that fact about runescape. It was different from other games. It was unique. Now its just like every other boring game. Who are you to say what a game should be? People wouldn't have played runescape for so long if it wasn't what they liked. Combat being a HUGE part of runescape and to change it was very stupid.

First, I'm not talking about skilling at all. Second, read what I wrote above but to sum it up... Momentum is useless constant 0's WITH 70-80 lvl armour. Lvl 85 + 90 armour and weapons are for people who have billions because the normal rs player cannot afford. As for bosses being harder, Im maxed, lvl 138 old and thats useless as I feel like nothing when fighting a boss monster.
Also, they ruined prayer and herbalore and summoning.
I tried Momentum and find it the most useless of the abilities. It hits constant 0's, and the way they have made monsters harder to kill it takes forever to finish slayer tasks.
Momentum works pretty well for me.. idk what you're using it on.. As for high armour, EoC made their prices go down, so now they're even more affordable >.> Saying that, I mainly used veracs/gano /arma /void for my armour and chaotics as my weapons after EoC. You don't even need to pay for them lol. And they haven't ruined prayer and herblore. They just made them so they're not overpowered anymore. They're still useful of course. With the abilities being introduced, you shouldn't be relying on them to win you a fight anyways. As for summoning, Jagex have said they're doing a complete rework sometime this year, so that has yet to be seen.

Well the monsters I used prayer on were boss monsters, which mostly could hit through and or use multiple attack styles so having prayer on to protect from one of those styles was perfect, unlike now.
They won't make it cheaper, it's currently one of their best cash sinks. However, I can see it being made easier to train. You'll probably be able to buy charms on SGS.
I think the idea is to make familiars less broken and annoying. I hate that the skill training itself is just pouch making. The same way that I hate how you train prayer. Too basic, and realistically has nothing to do with the skill. A good skill is trained by using it, eg combat

Soulsplit is very good for anyone that can use it, im using it on pretty much every boss and it will for sure outheal more damage then a prot prayer would block
