This is AWESOME!
Pretty sure I saw a video documentary of this
it's open source project, BTW

:] #Quanta 22nd century
That is really impressive.
Awww... My interest was piqued by such awesome technology only for me to discover it's less awesome than it seems. I thought that the camera was somehow actually taking that many frames per second and somehow getting an accurate presentation before the light rays could travel to the lens itself which is what truly blew my mind.
But it turns out that it seems the vast majority of it is simulated with interpolation of guessing where the light would be at those frames and the video is a rendering of the work between the actual frames, which explains the flash at each end of the bottle.
1. tahts freaking awesome!
2. its open source!? even more awesome!
Cool thing I noticed about the coke bottle is how the light seems to act like a solid as it gets closer to the neck of the bottle. It is as if it is being squeezed out and it suddenly starts to expand as the space of it's surroundings gets smaller
Best part: "Cameras that can look around corners..."
#TimeTravelPossible !
I remember watching this on TED a while back. If I recall, the idea of seeing around corners with light was quite fascinating.
"MIT developed a camera that is fast enough to capture light moving" Is somewhat misleading.
What they've done is to time their camera and use post-processing to "stitch" a whole lot of images into one continuous animated scene.
Basically they've taken many thousand images of light passing through that bottle, then they made a program to find out what image is the next in the series and just patch the images together to make it look like on animated scene
E: The wimp video: http://www.wimp.com/trillionframes/
tell it to the person I copied and pasted from, you seem to have something to prove with that post.. nobody here is the person to prove it to
I'm just informing people? No need for aggression..
Zyt3x sounded aggressive, that's the only post in this thread that did.
Would it make you feel better if I edit in a smiley in my previous post? :)
I feel fine? you were the one complaining -.-
Aww, guys don't fight <3
