I'm all for them combating gold-farming. Even if they can't do anything about java bots, securing a method of detecting & dealing with gold-farmers will eliminate the majority of the bots we see today.

But I'll believe it when I see it...

Botwatch could be as simple as a message at the top of the screen saying click this box in the next 2 minutes or be teleported to Gnome Stronghold. If they fail 10+ times they aren't just afking on facebook.

They should post the name of every player banned for botting, and keep their adventure log up for a dew days after being banned. That would be taken seriously, unlike an unverifiable "over 1000 accounts every day". Jagex really needs to prove to players that the bans are happening on the scale that they say they are.

I noticed the mention of the unimplemented portions of the Botwatch. I hope it legitimately requires higher quality antiban to get around. That may sound counterintuitive, but it would make scripting more challenging and thought-provoking.

Its funny that they are hypocrites about it.

They wont let the players on the Rs official forums to name and shame players, but higher level forums have all access and what not

After reading that article it just raised a few points for anyone to answer
    1. He seems to be making closed gestures(not answering the question) about the whole situation on micropayments
    2. He still doesn't openly answer anything in a fully articulate way. Each statement seems to be loopi?g and doesn't provide a clear answer?

We do know for a fact there are far fewer players botting now in game than there were back in 2011.
A lot more people used to play the game back in 2011.

The Squeal of Fortune (and, to a lesser extent, Solomon’s General Store) has always been a heated topic of discussion. I won’t sugar-coat this: these additions were - and are - vital for growing RuneScape. They allowed us to double the size of RuneScape’s team and keep up the near-weekly game updates.
Near-weekly updates for SOF and Solomon?

Like any key part of the game, we will continue to refine the EoC for you.
By buffing all the monsters and make them immortal?

I hate news like this. Empty words.

Im sceptical about them "nuking" all the goldfarmers/other bots.
Botwatch has so far focused on scripts that are used very widely => focused on finding many users doing the same thing the same way (e.g. targeting a certain funtion in the scripts that is rather unique but also constant). If ppl start scripting more themselves, the goldfarmers will still prevail. The fact that there have not been any Simba bans in LRC makes me believe it even more.
Another thing is using indirect methods to make goldfarming pointless. There may come a crapload of new updates that involve valuable gear that is untradeable/other benifits for the players, that cannot be obtained with the help of the GE. Also, they might start monitoring trades more. But still, ~half of their income is from goldfarmers/rwt/other botters so they cant ban very many ppl, they can just contain the situation, not improve it/completely eradicate bots.

"...and delete tons more illegitimate trial accounts"

Sure, I've been rune-spanning 5 days straight on my trial account, doing everything against safe botting protocol, and still not banned (along with the other 100+ bots in world 39 runespan).

    PS: 91 rc now .

True, but there are still hordes of them at dragons and such. I don't really know what legit players want more gone, the botters with completionist capes or the botters who gold-farm. Someone should make a poll over there.

Gold farmers... Basically every single method of gold production is hamstrung by bots. So makes it's impossible fr Legits to make money easily plus the economy is so out of wack as a result of it.

Yeah, earlier today I tried to buy chocolate bars to crush into dust, but they weren't buying for 10% over the ge price. Someone must have made a chocolate crusher and released it publicly

    Booooooorrrriiiinnnnngggg.
    Still doesn't answer ANYTHING.
Just a load of crap about how they are "listening" and "working hard" and "appologizing" and crap for everything but in fact they will still continue to do whatever they want no matter how people feel about it.

Well if you wanna make a bit of quick cash and help the gold-farmer problem at the same time you could also go ice barrage the abyss-crafting bots for an amulet of glory every time. Also one could barrage the dragon-killing bots that enter the rift a bit further east of the Mage of Zamorak; they drop Royal Dragonhide top & bottom every time.

Ah the days when I used to go and pk the green wildy bots for its loot. You could make quite a bit of cash there.
