    Default Jagex's Bot War

Looks like they've gone hard. I know a couple people have been hit

    The War against Bots Continues

We recently introduced the next phase of our anti-bot technology Botwatch, and it's already showing its teeth in the battle against botting activity in RuneScape. Last night alone, we conducted a mass ban of no less than 20,000 gold farming accounts. This is a huge blow against gold farming, and you should see the difference in game right away. These new anti-bot systems aren?t limited to gold farmers, however - users of 3rd party clients and botting software are also being aggressively targeted by the newly updated Botwatch.

Of course, this is just one victory in the ongoing war against botting. Our zero-tolerance policy stands, and we won't rest while botting and gold-farming exists in your game. It's an ever-evolving race, but with hard work and the support of the community, we'll stay well ahead of the game. We're already working on the next phase of anti-bot tech, which we're looking forward to rolling out over the coming months.

    The RuneScape Team
Zero tolerance? What happens to 3 strikes?

Scary stuff, I wish I knew how it worked. Perhaps it's what that guy from Powerbot was talking about, monitoring the way people do these repetitive tasks in Runescape and comparing them with other players to see if mouse movements, click types, idle time (ect), matches near-perfect with multiple other accounts.

If that's the case (only a theory) then public scripts are at risk. I can think of a few ways they'd go about macro detection, and honestly, that's the best case scenario.

    Edit:
It must have been very recent. This morning I was ranked in the top 4,000 in Magic, I'm now ranked in the top 1,500, and I'm well over 40,000,000 Magic XP. So what kind of gold-farmers use that much Magic? Super-heaters perhaps?

Yeah its really hard to say. Like why would PB get hit super hard at LRC and none for us? Is it the human-like qualities of the scripts? Is it the number of people using it? Is it the client itself?

I wonder how they're going about detecting 3rd party clients.

I'm still dubious that they detect 3rd party clients, because if they could then we would have seen bans. I think the most likely reason is Jagex targeting specific scripts that have many users.

It seems that way. If worst comes to worst I have no problem at all running my Herb-Farmer in the normal client.

Has anyone heard any word from Powerbot on any bans they've had lately? I imagine if there's anyone complaining of being banned, it's PB users.

Apparently tons of bans reported for LRC, GOP, and grotworms in the past day or so

I suppose that would explain why my Magic (and Smithing level as well!) level has jumped up; super-heating ores in the LRC. I'm assuming 'Grotworms' are also killed via a PB script; do those script use Magic to kill them? If so then that makes sense as well.

    See guys
Those who paid $2-$5 for x amount of memberships to vote for 'Oldschool 07 Servers', most likely contributed to Jagex's ability to hire and pay people/put bot watch on more places now.

I'm guessing their account was already marked for execution, and they just happened to be playing legit when the sentence was carried out.

I thought the sentence carry out occurred as soon as the mark for execution is set aside. Do they analyze their findings in non-real time to determine who's a bot?

Good thing all those powerbot users that pay for scripts, are getting banned. We got the same scripts here for free but they say we suck. Look at us now powerban, no bans at all from using scripts here..

Or the client itself is being detected....and since it is identified as Powerbot's client they do not have to connect too many dots to say you were botting.

IMHO Jagex is carrying on the personal war with Mister Paris & his team...and yes I believe it is personal. I think they (Jagex) are not trying to shut Powerbot down 100% at the moment, but is rather using the "death by a million cuts" strategy to make the leadership at Powerbot pay in pain ending eventually in an Implosion from within the PB community itself....

Just my opinion...I do not have any inside info....but if I were Jagex and had the "history" between these two camps that they have then THIS would likely be my preferred strategy.....as it is much more satisfying this way.

    Just a thought.

They say we suck...and I am inclined to allow them to believe that.... most of them (not all of course) are simply Jerks behind a Keyboard....who would cower if they were in the same room as you, But are Junior Bad Asses when they are behind an avatar on a computer.

I was thinking what would happen to us now
Because you have all these confused and New people from PB/EB joining this community and making threads like '[PP] [BUYING] $10 FOR WCER PLZ [MUST BANK]"

Hopefully major RS 07 scripts are not released here to the new comers that either: Joined in the past week or decided to go online for the first time even though they have join dates back from 2006-2012

Exactly, I also wouldn't be surprised that a member from their community is watching them with them trying out there very own scripts..

The only reason that I can think of is that they ban then in waves, or that there is a short wait between the botting and the analyzing. Not sure though.

That's some very big gains there!

It's quite frightening to see such vast action being taken!

Well Im not saying it directly but what I actually ment to say was that they say we suck and that our scripts are bad but look at them, they got banned with their super undetectable scripts which they say they have..

I guess according to that all public scripts should use random wait by username, what i mean, convert username/login email. to integer and add that value to random wait values maybe include some randomness in points. so each waiting idle will be totally different and effect to performance will be small since value will be added in ms. lets say algorithm of converting it will return value up to 1000ms. it's pretty much something D

I bet they detect by all the people using the scripts and whether it is human-like. I was testing out a PB auto-fighter that is well used and it was getting a crazy amount of kills. But it looked way too botlike. Time to start using Simba!
