An improvement indeed! Very crisp graphics. They've sure come a long ways from classic.

Now if only they could take just a fraction of that ambition and direct it towards eradicating the pesky java bots. 'Tis nice to dream, no?

    Current projects:

If jagex got rid of the java client completely would injection bots have to move to a different programming language in order to read the data or can they still use java to inject them selfs into the html5 client?

Well I don't think the game itself will be ONLY HTML5, I mean that's a Hell of a work load on the server if that's the case, Think about it... if it was HTML5 and it was Server sided, people could inject directly into the server with cheat engine or something for example. So I assume it's HTML and Some form of other Tool which I think will still be Java

I think it is HTML5 outside, and the server inside is the same old java (I read something like that earlier)

The serverside part is written in another language. Possibly java or any other language. I don't think they changed this part.

The clientside is written in javascript, the display part will be html.

Its a big step forward, I hate having the control of the camera taken away from me, and being able to see further than 20m in to the distance = big bonus!

I have heard rumors that 2 new skills are coming with RS3. I hope its not another two fake skills like dungeoneering...

also inb4 java is removed completely in 6 months-1 year after RS3. I am glad that they are moving past java though, it was holding the game so much for so long.

I also expect jagex to try and tackle botting once again, whether successfully or not. Perhaps even removing the lowest graphical settings completely (lets be honest, who is still using pre 06 hardware?) in an attempt to kill of color bots.

    Hopes for RS3:
Graphical updates to super outdated stuff like cave goblins
More ways to train skills, preferably fast and fun methods

    I'm hoping for Agilityspan!

one of the skills is supposed to bea collecting skill, and the other a money sink.
Collecting gets released first, the otehr one a few months afterwards.

Agilityspan would make me so happy, I HATE training agil, even with a bot... Seems so worthless, yet I need it for quests.

But what else is there collect? I mean really... We got collection and crafting skills for everything. What could they possibly add that would be unique? I bet its going to be some clone of another skill where you collect crap and then use the secondary skill to make in to armor and junk.

But that's essentially what all skills in runescape are. Hard to get around that :/

Me, personally, I'd rather see existing skills overhauled/expanded on (like construction) rather than a new skill that essentially would be the same thing as every other ones just different pictures lol. But agility and ,construction, fire making, and smithing etc need more things to be of use.

It'd be nice if higher levels in those skills were actually of use in an untradeable sort of way(items and what not) rather than just leveling for totals.

    What the hell is agilityspan?
Yeah its been said one skill will be a collecting and one to do with what you've collected ei Woodcutting/fletching or fishing/cooking or farming/herb etc etc.

Can't wait for this. Im pretty sure old school rs will die out with this new update.

Can't wait for it . It's the best of both worlds: Awesome for legits, and we still get to bot normally with them keeping it java-only optional.

The server is mostly java, but I believe there is also some assembly and C++ in there.

EDIT: HTML looks pretty "meh" as I expected, the render distance appears to be the only difference, which admittedly was a huge issue for the game. Other than that, the lag is the only real issue with the mechanics of the game.

Medieval combat is pretty fun in first person, but I feel it would not fit RS.
