Default my road to 10 1 armed pullups

So as some of you know I was a gymnast for 10 years until I destroyed my knee dirt biking & my other knee skiing (yea I'm so lucky, same summer too)

since then I have been fit, but not as much as I always used to be

anyway this past 1.5 weeks I've had mostly off from work, since I just finished a huge project & my half semester accelerated classes ended & start up AFTER spring break, so I find myself with 3 weeks off

so about 7 days ago I started doing pullups (60%), chinups (25%), & muscle ups (15%) pretty much all day. I've been hitting over 1000 total each day.

So far I have gone from being able to do probably only around 15 pullups at once, now I can do around 40. I also can do 1 1 armed pullup when I'm not tired

I also broke the ceiling drywall by hitting my head against it when throwing myself up in a pullup too fast, lol..

anyway that's where I am.. I don't think I'll stop until I can do 100 pullups in a row, and probably 100 chinups too since they're "easier" to work at.

not sure when I'll be able to do 10 1 armed, but I'll probably pass that goal eventually.

Nice. I used to think I was fit, but guess not I can only run a mile in a little under 6 minutes, and I weigh 185 Lbs. Can't do many chinups either. I can do about 50 pushups in a row though.

What is the difference between a pull up, chin up, and muscle up?

you got badass endurance, I die running

I can bike for hours "ok" not going maximum, but I can't run for shit (maybe cuz my right knee is horrid?)

I can do pushups forever now, doing pullups works your triceps like insane, you'd probably do them better than pullups if you have lesser bicep.. but chipups also use a lot of back muscle

    I'm 165 5'10

pullup your palms face away, you're using your LATS and triceps mostly, and bicep gets in there too.. pretty much ALL arm muscles & a lot of back muscle and a little bit of your chest (pec) muscle, I keep my legs straight out in front of me so I'm an L shape so it also works my abs quite a bit.

chinup your palms face toward you.. this is pretty much all bicep as you can probably tell because that's the same way you do dumbell curls

muscle ups are just doing a whatever, and then going over it:

I do a pullup and then go over it, that imo is harder than rings.. though I grewup on rings so probably have those muscles developed well compared to whatever I'm using to do the chinup + going over to a full muscle up

imo the having arms with palms facing toward your body, while on your sides (similar to how his are in the rings) vs pointing away from you, is much harder because less bicep involved

I stopped gymnastics when I was 10 ish, kinda wish I kept doing it now that I climb. I want to try some of the things you said, I don't have anywhere I could do them though

Congrats! 40 pullups is actually pretty hard if you do them properly.

I would have to disagree about the triceps involvement, but I don't want to start another argument

I'm probably going to build a ring bar outside like 12ft tall or something

if I didn't work & college I'd probably have that down in a couple months no prob

It's fact, there's no argument.. you can look it up, or come rub my muscles as I do them.. or you can start doing a thousand a day and you'll notice triceps are the only muscles that get sore.
