Typically people come up with one password that they use on everything. Their e-mail, their bank account, their games, etc all use the same password. So if you were to have everyone's password to something free, you'd have most of their passwords to pretty much everything.

I admit I only use like 2 or 3 main passwords myself, and it only came to more than one due to limitations on "Add a capital letter, a non-alphanumeric character, and a letter of the Coptic language representing their view on Anubis".

Basically everyone worries about how complex a password is, but a more prevalent problem is that many people re-use the same password for almost everything.

So say your runescape password is Ch1eFH3rb1832. Now consider that I create a runescape-related website that allows you to quickly share images of your RS game while you are playing. You and 5000 register, and you use the same email and password as usual. Then I put all the info into a list and get a script to try all the login details on the runescape site. I now have access to everyone's account who re-uses their password.

Now imagine this on a global scale, and replace runescape with say, Paypal.

The joke at the end is just that google could easily have access to a sizeable chunk of the world's login info for everything (Banks, ect), but they don't know what to do with it because they already have more money than they know what to do with

^This. I have a basic password for anything un-important and then I have unique important passwords for each site / account
