    Default The Bot Watch Thread

Post your thoughts on the bot watch guys! Post your bans! Post a picture of your lunch!

    3. Can you start to target xyz now?

It's reports like this we need. You, the players, see all areas of the game and know the best and most efficient spots to purchase items, train and gather resource. We also know this, but there can be obscure areas bots and goldfarmers might target to keep out of sight. So far, we've taken the areas you've reported the worst and focused there. As we now begin to branch out, the areas you report are crucial, please keep these up!

We're doing our own manual scans of areas as well as letting BotWatch find them itself. We'll then assess the area's for potential threats and work accordingly. Your reports help us assess the damage impact as well as gather us information on the bot users themselves. Either way, we're still getting the information we need, your reports just helps some areas get to us a little faster

IMO botwatch isn't very effective, especially detecting colorbots...
It seems do work better with injection bots though...
So you can get banned if you bot in known area or you get reported a lot of times and mod comes to check you

Right. Most of the bans are gonna happen from mods checking on people at fight caves, pc bank, pc, yeews, nats, ect ect ect ect ect ect ect.

Ya know what I'd like to see? I want to see proof from Jagex that Botwatch is indeed detecting & banning bots. I want a counter somewhere on the home page with a live calculation of # of bots banned purely using Botwatch (automated). This should exclude their manual bannings: I want to see that this software is doing its job.

    Current projects:
[ AeroGuardians (GotR minigame), Motherlode Miner, Blast furnace ]

They banned almost 200 people in the runecrafting high scores today. Someone I know's rank went up by 130 something after they removed a bunch of people with names like "ywywyndjfjdh" rofl. Still, that was mostly ip based.

Yes I heard about it, but I'm willing to bet those banned were manually detected, not auto-banned via their Botwatch system.

Most likely. As SRL user's we're pretty safe from their so-called Botwatch system anyways. I think we should start pushing the limits and find a way to script in an anti ban for manual bans! For example, if simba detects a crown on your chat screen, it canl respond to the mod with a message, or perhaps series of messages, of your choice, followed by a logout?

It is pretty easy to know which ones are bot. I was making my nature crafter script, and I've noticed majority of the nature running bots will say something before they run to the altar from general shop, such as "Bored...", and some others, can't recall. It was meant to be an antiban, but sometimes these antiban just make you tell people you are a bot.

Btw, I never believed Jagex have something that is called bot-watch. If there is, it should be instant ban whenever you became bot-like. I've used VERY FAST mouse speed since EoC, and still using it on OSR, have not been banned yet.

It logs you out whenever it finds a mod talking. Talking can lead to being spotted as a botter, unless you randomize 100 different things to say if a mod is found, else you will be just saying that few same things over and over again.

I'm very skeptical about it too - first time they implemented Botwatch it "banned" everyone on the north side of the wilderness ditch in World 18.

    Ah... Trolling mods.
I still giggle when i remember one day there was a 'riot' on ruenscape and Andrew showed up, he was saying stuff like 'every one clam down', 'what is this all about' then a pure with some really funny looking gear followed him and kept repeating 'andrew likes men', was hilarious.

I am kinda of scared of Botwatch, but the thing is if they actually ban people then their pretty much kissing the game good bye, most people that play Bot, a high number of clans enforce botting (to keep high combat, clans like Reign of Terror, Violent resolution all have at least 1 member on every world botting at yaks).

And to be honest, its ridiculous that some one can bot for 120+ hours without getting a ban, so i think they should implement it, increases the challenge of script writing.
Personally i am not done with my stats - but they are high enough to an extent i can sustain and train at other spots. Just glad i finished Range at the cave, went from 60 to 70 in one day lol, cost me 70k too.

For now i stay out of sight and bot in underpopulated areas.

there is no bot watch, i'm almost maxxed, purely from botting every skill is 95+ and has been botted 95% of the time. apart from slayer, but that is still 85+
Bored of playing rs, and bored of botting it, why am i here?

Hahahahahahaha that's a pretty good story. I'm sure that they'll hit the cave bots with manual bans soon enough, but I bet flax pickers might even have more priority over the cave bots. They're just trying to ban the major gold farmers so the rwt price of gold can go back up and guys like us on forums can make more profit Thanks jagex!

Most disturbing part about those bots is that they all move with exactly same pattern.
Couldn't Jagex do something that would ban ppl if all move with same pattern.
(And guys using simba could do dance of joy at new botnuke)

Yew bots only move when they can cut a tree, but legit players move next to a tree before its grown again, so they could have bigger chance of getting logs.
Maybe someone could use that idea in woodcutting script.
So that bot would remember what tree is going to grow next and walk next to it.

Is there a botwatch thread on the rs forums that shows dates for when they do it? Heard someone talking about it in game today and I couldnt find it. Knowing the schedule of when they are out in about would be helpful too.

BotWatch is a system? I thought it was them manually coming out, finding bots, making sure they are bots and then banning. kind of scared to bot now.

Agreed! Almost seems like a made up piece of software at this moment. I would love to see proof of it doing something; as im sure many others would too.
