Will be interesting to see if this actually goes down, there is always a dangerous stampede of people trying to bust into walmart as soon as they open. Every year somebody usually dies in said stampedes

According to the article they did it last year too, so I don't doubt it'll happen, but I also doubt that anything will change as a direct result.

Doesn't increasing minimum wage just cause inflation? I don't know much about the economy but common sense tells me that it would...

But I guess its easy for me to disagree with raising it in my position (not trying to live off of minimum wage)

an increase in inflation has many more factors, MANY, increasing minimum wage is not a very important one i believe, it may have impact though, but not directly! +minimum wage = +consumption . so it can be a good way of reactivating the economy. but yeah, i dont know nothing about US economy, and here in Argentina stuff are REALLY different, so im no parameter!

Up for debate. No doubt inflation will eventually catch up to a higher minimum wage and it's a known fact that the government is pretty damn slow at passing laws.

Either way, no doubt companies will make up for the cost whether it be cutting back hours or cutting back on staff

Yes they are. They happen at my Walmart every year. I'm not saying it happens at every Walmart but Walmart stampedes are pretty common

I'd be in favor of their goal of increasing min wage; however a Black Fri strike is a bit extreme... Imo it's similar (but obviously not as extreme) to republicans shutting down the gov't (in striking during the highest profit day) and we all know that this didn't lead anywhere.

There was a study somewhere that I remember reading that even doubling min wage to like $15 wouldn't make a significant dent in the profits of the executives or even the company as a whole (iirc it was by the guy who initially funded amazon), so I don't see the whole issue tbh.

Maybe for a year or so, then it's like, well darn we're paying these people 2x what we were a year ago, let's double the prices of everything to keep up with inflation.

Black Friday is serious business! If you haven't run over an old lady and walk over at least, AT LEAST, another 2 or 3 people, you simply are not shopping correctly.
