    Default Deadman Mode

Have you guys heard about the new "Deadman Mode"?

"You will be able to attack any player you meet anywhere. However, if you get skulled you won’t be able to enter a safe zone without being killed by the guards until the skull has gone. Mind you, if you kill the player you will get to raid his bank… so is the reward worth that risk? And what happens if he kills you? If he kills you he can raid your bank and you’ll lose half of your XP… that’s a tough decision!"

More information can be found here on the dev blog: http://services.runescape.com/m=foru...1,196,65648331

What are your thoughts about this?

    Personally I love the concept.

XP rate is too slow for this to be popular (Yes 5x is too slow)

There's an ultimate iron man who gets featured on Chris Archie a lot -- because he's an ultimate iron man that only plays in PvP worlds.

He has such a hard time, I get frustrated just watching him. I can't imagine being a Deadman will be any different. The potential risks outweigh any sort of reward (is there even a tangible reward? I mean, can Deadmen trade?)

I personally don't like it. Losing 50% of your xp definitely looks too harsh. It'd be a whole lot better if they simply added back PVP worlds...those were the best

Will deadmen be limited to that world or any though? If they can go on normal worlds then it might be a little easier.

If this type of mode didn't have you lose xp, I would be much more likely to play it. I can't really justify putting time into a game when I can just easily lose all of my progress. If this mode was tied to basically a PvP world, without the level restriction, and where you don't lose items from your bank or xp, I would be much more likely to play it.

I don't think anyone will even get that high leveled. I mean once you die you lose all your gear, food, potions... You have to start from scratch. I think it will be a very few high leveled and geared players and the rest boobies
Edit: noobies, but I like that autocorrect

When they first talked about this mode I smh, sounded like DOA content. At least they have revised some things and made it better.

I still think this will be near dead content within a month.

People literally were begging for PVP. Jagex released it and the hype was good for about a week. Now look at those worlds, it's just boring and dead. Go figure.

I agree, I think 10x would be better to compensate for losing 50% of your xp upon death (lol).

Agreed. Buff the xp rate, and nerf the loss slightly. x10 rate though, would essentially mean that getting a 99 would be like gaining level ~75

As it stands, gaining a 99 would be the same as getting level 83/84

sounds like something fun to do, especially if it was refined further to accommodate small teams (allow them to compete with large clans without being at a massive disadvantage). There aren't many downsides (outside of potentially less pkers on regular worlds and the development time). imo it's worth it for them to develop it and see what happens and go from there.

+ truly old school rs (the wilderness was created because of the big dominant clans getting too powerful). I'm truly excited about getting to experience that.

the main issue is still ddosing imo (kills are much more valuable which means stronger attacks). they say they're waiting to upgrade their systems and it'll all be gucci but....eh. we'll see I guess

tl;dr: If done properly (small teams can compete) this could bring in new players to osrs(word of mouth, telling your friends to come play with ya), which would definitely be a breath of fresh air. so ye im excited to see what happens

Even 10x is gonna be pretty slow for the risk

Idk man.. Even at 10x if you are getting 50k xp an hour in say, strength, thats over 500k xp an hour... Pretty easy to get 99 with that.

5x is a little low but I feel like 10 would be good.

Maybe, but think of the ramifications of dying people won't want to invest that much time into it lol

Yeah but it is nice because if you die you can keep the experience of 5 skills. So even if you just focus on PVP stats you wont lose much. Hell, I would train legit if the xp rate was x10 xD

Regardless, I am curious to see how this plays out.

If they buff it to 10x and halve the xp loss (maybe even 1/3 loss is fine) I would legit try osrs for this mode. But I don't quite know if there's any protection for level 126 deciding to camp lumbridge (or another noob but non-safe area) and kill everyone. That would put off many people from this mode.

Good to know we don't have to make another account and pay more $ to try this new mode. https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/c...n_mode_update/

Would be fun for a while if it gets released but it will die out soon probably. They just need to tweak a few features to make it seem more appealing to players.
