Default Wheres this mass of leecher noobs coming from?

Ok I know this is maybe not right for this forum but I am sure its a question everyone is asking. Where are all these people coming from?

It seems like in the last 2 days theres been a ton of blank applications and people asking questions that a billion threads answered. I have no clue what the heck is going on but every time I click the new posts button when I come on here 90 percent is noobie bs.

Im glad the forums are growing but to me it seems like its growing in a bad way. Is google pointing our way or what?

True. I just dont like srl getting all the attention of people saying scar is a virus etc. Its just really annoying. This sites always been very calm and away from the masses but it seems like words gotten out somehow.

    Yeah, that sounds about right.

We need to take this as a good oportunity to help the community.
Please, be nice and informative to the nubs, give them good links to help them. If we treat them good, then we will have a high retention rate, and if we give them links to where they can learn, they will help us deal with the mass of stupid questions, and mabey eventually learn to script.

Please, i know it is hard, i feel the urge to say "stfu leecher" but that is hardfull to the community, and will turn on of the best forums into a hostile place.

We were all noobs once, try to help, not hinder them.(h)

Edit: Yeah the virus thing pissed me off too...

Edit 444 post! thats cool right?

Well I am not mean to them in any way. The problem is the fact that they ask questions that can easily be found. Perhaps we need a mandatory question session or a tutorial before you can post like mopars has.

That is good, and perhaps so, but untill then we still need to try to be helpfull to them.

If they don't give enough info to answer their question, or if the didn't search, link them to someplace like this. http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

also , i wasnt saying you partically were being me, i was just thinking everyone (myself included) needs to make a better effort on being as helpfull as possible, and the massive of noobs just increases that necessity.

I agree be nice to them because any noob could become a great scripter. But we need a new system I belive to keep them from making apps and from making posts untill they have learned at least the basics.

Maybe make a new member forums outside of the free forums untill they become familiar with scar and srl. We could put all the tutorials in there and that way they are helped and members are less aggrevated with posts. (and alot of members are getting aggrevated by all the hatefull posts I am seeing.)

Meh, its not up to me... i see your points though.

me thinks it would frustrate to many people and drive away noobs that arent as noobish as others. Fawki would never agree to it, and the ultimate solution is really just lots of patence, knowing it will pay off (both in life and srl)

As Greg is saying, you just really have to answer their questions no matter how difficult. I know how it feels mostly due to the Draynor Netter thread by Dankness. I'm the only one other then the leechers that go there anymore and I believe there are 8 or so pages of them asking the same questions over and over again in which I just answer the question and ask them to read previous pages before posting. But all leechers ain't bad, I personally was once a leecher. But due to people being, "nice" to me, I'm not a leecher anymore .

Thats the half truth. People necassarily doesnt use the info.
They just can be like "its not my problem if you cant use "if (100 = 'wdok') then"" Can you be sure they give anything back? The info we'd give em maybe just would encourage some people to rape the scripts since they know where to type username and pass.

I got an idea. Dankness makes it so you have to have an activity of atleast 20% and a post count of at least 100, and a blank app suffers a perm ban!

Please do not send me a PM asking for help; I will not be able to help you! Post in a relevant thread or make your own! And always remember to search first!

Sounds like a good idea. We should bring this up with Fawki/Dank.

That is already expected with free scripts. That is half the reason why they are their (add content, get people to come here. etc)

And your right, we may not (although unlikly) get anything back for all out efforts. We may be just strugling in vain, and every nub will just stay a nub and never help the comunity.

But even then, we can proudly say that this is the most freindly forum every known to exist. You can know that you have just put up with heck, and delt with it in the most mature way possible, and have over come your frustrations.

Sometime doing the right thing just for the sake of it, is good enough. If every reply to a nnobish post is educational and informative, that nub will have a hard tiem not learning, and a hard time not giving back to the community.

(zomg, that srl memb just helped me really good, it must be cool to help people! ill do it too.. man he is soo cool, i wana be a memb someday) mabey not exactly like that, but you see the idea.

Well.. As of what I've learnt from sythe is that stickies won't help.. Stupid people still want someone to answer their question in a different thread.. Even if there's 2 threads at the first page asking the same question and both have been answered they'll make a new thread asking the same question.. But the people I hate most are those that say something like:

omfg stuopid shiat scripts all haev th same erorr SRL not found stuppid nubs make yoer script works!!11!!
meaning that even if they are noobs and can't manage to make the script work they can't even ask for help nicely.. So it will be really hard to avoid the flood of stupid questions..

I just noticed this has been updated.... whoever updated this seems to know Freddy and Kait pretty well, although I could be wrong, maybe they are just SCAR Scholars....If anyone can find out who updated this info, I'm sure alot of people would like to know....It was my understanding, that the "Higher Powers" here were trying to keep a low profile...By looking at this page, doesn't seem like that is the case now...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCAR_(programming_language)

Also, feel free to do a google search...not hard to find your way back here with just a few clicks....Not trying to spread any Paranoid Propaganda, but this could answer the question started in this post...

Hmm, yeah that is very interesting (well written too). I wonder whats up? Drawing more attention to a autoing site normally leads to its downfall...

But yeah, the link on there is going to get google botted big.

Ya wiki has this amazing power to send you to websites you never heard of. It always seems to be my top result when I am searching the net for something. The link you stated seems to have been taken down now though unless I need to be logged in to see it.
