if you sownloaded SCAR from Freddy's site, its 100% safe, but I remember that SCSS gave those trojan messages sometime, its safe, dont worry.

I just updated my AVG antivirus and it claimed the SCARBrowser contained a trojan. It found it in 3.06 and 3.10. I'm guessing it's a false positive, as I also downloaded it from freddy's website.

No, it's a real trojan downloader. From my understanding of the type, it usually pings a server and then downloads an array of the following:
    A0034471.exe - A0046925.exe

They download themselves to C:\system volume information\_restore

They do this because it makes it so they survive a system restore.

Manually delete them by accessing the C:\syst vol folder by using start> run

Then run hijack this, and make sure the processes for the trojan downloader are no longer running.

You must be a Jagex staff member. Otherwise, please realize you are posting bullshit. You have absolutely no proof, and have either pulled this out of your ass, or read up on another virus to scare people.

This is actually how trojans and viruses actually work but scar is perfectly fine. If this was actually a virus would 20,000 members be here? Would scar and SRL be used by all the other sites? No, it is just found as a virus because of the way it is coded, not because it actually has one in it.

This is some MAJOR crap. scar doesn't do any of this! Make sure you get scar from freedy1990, and it is COMPLETELY safe.
You can even quarantine it if you are paranoid, and then scan it will all you have got, its clean!

Freddy has been around for ages, and hundreds of thousands of people have used scar. NO ONE has gotten a virus from it unless they went to a different site!

Don't post FALSE accusations unless you know what you are talking about.

Edit: I didn't the last post.
Yes, scar is clean, I don't really even think any reputable virus scanner has even given it a false negative. (just the scss program).

And yes, some trojans work like that, but not most, and more importantly, not scar. not to mention that any virus scanner can easily detect actions like that.

(nah joking man) But think of it, "scar want access to SRL, instead of sending them your proggies it sending them your passes!

Exesive swearing there. (was joking, don't forget that!)

Yeah, it's even asking permission to just go to a web page! If you don't want to risk it, just say no, lol.
You don't ever have to enter your passwords in scar!
(you can if you want, for convenience) but you never have to!

Hmm, since a couple of updates ago I've also been experienceing virus warnings from both SCAR and SCARBrowser from AVG Free...
It seems that AVG renders it completely useless somehow because every instance where the virus is detected doesn't work anymore at all... for me it has detected it in every SCAR version including the ones released by kaitnieks...
However, after removing AVG and rebooting and then reinstalling SCAR everything seems to work perfectly fine, including the files that seemed "broken" before...
I ran scar 2.03 trought jotti and apparently AVG, F-Prot and Fortinet detected it as somekind of virus...
However, there aren't many things that SCAR and SCARBrowser have in commen as SCARBrowser dates from before I was developing SCAR, so I will discuss with kaitnieks what the possible causes are and if nessecary dispatch messages to the companys of whom's scanners detect it as a virus...
