    Scar/srl illegal?

I was thinking, is scar/srl illegal in real life? Can Jagex do more than ban you?

So legal its shocking? Its really quite legal, unless you can get sued for cheating at a kids game?

SCAR never directly interfears (sp?) with RS so they have nothing against you. Client editing bots, RS demon for example, may be a different story.

I would like to thank the people of Jackex for creating a wonderful game. We could not have done this without you. We honestly hold you in high esteem. Next comes Kaitnieks, who kept us together in a most remarkable community filled with extraordinary people. He enabled us to play the game with a different approach. A approach Jackex calls "cheating", and "against the rules", but for us it is an intelectual challenge: outsmarting the system, solving each trap they set out for us. Consider us Masterthieves. We do not use any illegal methods. We do not infringe any copyright, we do not use our knowledge about the java code, we do not break any laws. We merely play "against the rules". We cheat. Thats what we are good at, thats what we do.

    yup, isisnt it lovely?

There will never be a law against what you can tell your computer to do.

Persoanl id stealing, and copywright breaking are really the things to be worried about.

You can rest assured that scar is legal, it does nothing other than what you would normally do. Scar is as legal as you playing runescape normally.

unless you are thinking of jagex, jagex holds the right over their game and server, and can ban who ever they want for whatever they want (like using scar). But they only have dominion over what they have created. So long as you arent thretning their familys or something, the worst they can do is ban you.

The only time SCAR could be illegal in real life is if you used a script to harass another player, or some other illegal activity.

Actually, *unless you get permission* from Kaitnieks or Freddy or something selling scripts and/or SCAR may be illegal since you do not have the right to sell... although I am sure that selling SCAR is illegal with out permission, I am unsure about selling scripts (that and I don't think they really care) and that is considering that it is your own script that you're selling...

    SCAR is currently 100% legal.

But you're not selling scar, you are selling your own code.

Selling or messing with SCAR's source is illegal, but, as others have said, SCAR is, and will forever be, legal
