    Default php vs. mysql

    i was just wondering if these two things are similar and if they are witch one should i learn for web development

    my freind, you are very confused.

    php is a hyper script pre processing language,.

    mysql is a type of database table structuring thingy.

    they are completely incomparable.

    I use php to acces a mysql database to then generate some html code, and a png image...

    You need to learn them both, they work together.

    (now i supose you could compare mysql to postgree or oracle if you like..)

    Edit: go read the wiki aticle on them, that should help you out

    You shouldn't learn MySQL and PHP together, you should learn the basics of php first, and then learn how to use MySQL with it...
