    Default mechscape

MechScape? this is from wiki but lots of other sites have talked about it to
and jagex had brought all the mechsape websites already
    e.g
    mechscape.com
    mechsacpe.org,
    ect

MechScape is believed to the name of an upcoming 'undisclosed game' that Jagex Ltd has mentioned in Jagex recruitment material. Sources indicate that this is a Java-based space/sci-fi MMORPG based on the technologies used by the Jagex MMORPG RuneScape. Jagex have neither publicly announced or categorically denied that the game is in development beyond statements that there is currently no public beta of the game.

There are three strands of evidence for MechScape. The first relates to Jagex's use of the name, the second relates to the nature of their 'upcoming game', and the third links the other two together.

[edit] Jagex's use of the term MechScape
The most verifiable source of Jagex's interest in and intended use of the term MechScape comes from their UK, EU and US trademarks for the term[1].

Numerous website domains containing the term 'mechscape' or with a 'mech' prefix are registered to Jagex Ltd[2], including the mechscape.com domain, though they do not have any content on them. There are 82-132 domains concerning the game.

[edit] Nature of their upcoming game
Jagex job advertisements for content developers claim that a "sci-fi interest" is useful and that they are working on an 'undisclosed game. They have also recruited for people to create low-polygon models "for environments, objects, vehicles, characters and special effects".'[3][4][5]

Jagex's trademarks for MechScape cover MMORPGs and some of the domain names registered appear to anticipate real-world trading[6].

Former Jagex employee John Seru claims to have been the lead modeller on an "online space mmorpg" between April 2005 and October 2006[7]. Thomas Woode claims to be a Jagex employee who has "recently moved to the role of Lead concepter for a exciting new MMORPG title currently in development", and provides concept art of space ships with Jagex copyright on it[8][9].

Prob not beacuse I doubt forum mods know fuck all about the development of a whole new game. If its coming, its being kept under wraps.

I was recently going to make a post about it. I believe they're going to make a 'Mechscape'. I believe people will try it, and return to Runescape, because I believe fantasy appeals to more people than a 'Mechscape' ever will.

Another game, based off the Runescape engine?

Wow, they're dumber than I thought. Sure, RS might have held water back in '01 when it was a new idea - a browser based 3D game. Looking at the engine now looks painfully dated. By limiting the target audience to browser-based clients, they have developed a severely crippled game engine which might have passed off as somewhat decent ten or more years ago, but now is simply abysmal.

Coding a new engine from scratch is the way to go, in my opinion. And don't shy away from standalone! You're giving Java a try? Wonderful. Now give us something that can compete (graphically and in gameplay) with the competitors rapidly overshadowing you. Despite their attempts at disinformation and propaganda, many Runescape players have upped the $5 a month to $15 to move to World of Warcraft - and never looked back. I'm one of those. Screw only five types of weapons (copper, iron, etc) and a limited enchant/production system - World of Warcraft has hundreds of rare drops each with a backstory. Also, Tabula Rasa just launched, and it looks to be a killer.

Even for those that don't like to pay, alternatives exist. Silkroad Online, for instance, has excellent F2P content (the only paid content being high-level raid-type gear, which you can usually get near-equivalents of for free if you enjoy lots of questing and raiding).

Goodbye, Jagex. I hope you burn.

why would they have bought all of those domains back then?...that was when rs was rly beginning to flourish, i highly doubt they would have been considering creating a new game back then... this is only my opinion though, and honestly i hope im right, id hate to see a new game released and people leave.., i love rs

sounds like it could be ok for people who would rather a sci-fi version of runescape
not sure if it would appeal to some people
just have to wait til it comes out before we can fully judge how lame it might be
