    Default Stopping Lag on Runescape

    Stopping Lag on RuneScape

As you all know rnuescape bombards us with ads. While playing the game. These ads are fine while playing the game and half the time you dont realise it but they are causing you lag. Well some of them anyway.

    These ads are :

    • Smily Face animation thingies
    • Runescape dont give out pass
    • Runescape dont get scammed
    • Misc runescape

    Note :These are all animations.

Now when you get one of these (when the ads change) you may notice it lag like anything. Espicially if your on dial up like me.

    How To Stop

Step 1: (only do this if its a runescape animation) Right click it at and select play. Before you select it it should have the play ticked.

    (smilies start below)

Step 2: Next right click it again then select detail and go to low. It should go kinda pixalated

Step 3: Right click somewhere in no mans land like the sky where there is absolutely nothign moving. Then select zoom in. Keep on zooming in on this spot till you can anymore. Now the add should look like just a black sheet. Sometimes there is movement on where you zoomed in though like for smilies. THats why you turn the quality to low.

And there you have it. Less lag on runescape for us with dial up.

I use the firefox extension "Adblock" and "AdBlock Filter.G Updater" which is an updater for it so that way you dont have to manually block them...

if you have a hosts file, it can block all connections to advertising servers (doubleclick), so they dont even load. it can save bandwidth, but the "cannot be displayed" thing is kind of annoying

By the way, as if they can tell, it is against the rules to block ads from thier associates.

Key words: as if they can tell.

Erm, you could just simple make the window smaller and scroll so the ads dont show. If they dont show they are inactive, and it makes it run even faster then just stopping them.
    No room for thoughts.

If you are using AdBlock, you can get rid of the "cannot be displayed" messages.

All you have to do is add the following filter...

    http://advert.runescape.com/*

That kills the entire Flash window that the ads load into, so you don't even SEE the banner.

The Runescape page looks a little funny without all the flash windows when you first do it, but it's easy to get used to.

No, that won't work as they are still there and running in the background.

Adblock simply removes advert frame, and displays modified version of page without that frame, that way they(ads) don't render in browser so your memory isnt eaten by stupid flash player used for rendering such animations :]

Question for admins, can I post link to AdBlock ?

No, i didn't mean for Adblock. Brown said just scroll down, which wouldn't work.

I was just following the tipit anti lag guide on how is said to make the ad dissapear by scrolling. Anyways, aztek WEBROOT is the best. I used to get IE popups everyminute while I was offline, and my mom got it for her computer, and I put it on mine. Ad banners, dont even show, and the spyware was gone after a 15 minute scan.
    No room for thoughts.

The link I posted earlier will kill all the ads on various runescape web pages, but you need to add another one to kill the ad banner above the runescape client when it loads up.

You should have both of these filters in AdBlock to kill 'em all.

    http://advert.runescape.com/*
http://www.runescape.com/aff/* <--- That one kills the ad banner iFrame completely, but may interfere with other web site functions if you browse their site for information.

Or you could just right click where it is and click "AdBlock IFrame"..

You could just steal the applet and place it on a vb form.
That way the ads or there gay banner thing isn't there.

    It can be done easily.

Heck, here is another way to block the ads.

    1. Use Mozilla Firefox
    2. Get McAfee Internet Security
