Ah, scamming, who here can reminisce with me the memories of ripping dumb people off? I'll never forget my epic plan that awarded me my first 5m.
About a year and a half ago when I heavily played on my main, I thought of an excellent 2-man strategy for a scam: The Trust Game. Here's how it works: you went into a populated trade world (usually 1, 2, 3) and spam "free 5 mil gold follow!" or something along that lines (you'll get people following you). Once you get enough, you go upstairs in a small building, and once everyone follows, you explain to them the Trust Game, which is simply this: you start the bidding at 5k, and what they must do is give you an amount greater than that to raise it! Once they do, you announce the new amount, give it back, and trade with the next person! If they ask to see the 5 mil beforehand show it to em if you have that much.
Why is this a 2-man operation? Well, most people abandon this game instantly at the idea of losing their gold, and the few that stay behind will barely go over 200k. What this second person is supposed to do is when trading stalls and no one is going over the current bid, he "trades" you a higher amount, sometimes doubling it! This suprises people and catches them off-guard. "Whoa, it just went from 200k to 400k, this guy must be legit!" And so people will wager more, and eventually you simply log out when you get an amount that you like. Best time to leave would be before the amount hits 1 mil; that seemed to be the ending point for 99% of the people.
My brother and I made, in total, 13 mil, which we split.
