Welcome to another tutorial by Runescapian
This tutorial will be about the SRL-Forums toolbar –
(Looks this way because I wanted to avoid page stretching)
To start off….The User Control Panel. Access this by clicking User CP > User Control Panel
User Control Panel
This should bring you to your main User CP. From here, you can see where you received reputation, how much reputation you have, and things like that. You can also go to your Private Messages, Subscribed Threads, edit your person setting, and other stuff. Some people have said that they cannot access this page*, if you are one of them, the only thing I can suggest you do is PM (private message) an admin.
* You can also check your rep by going to one of your posts and attempting to rep yourself. It won't tell you where or when, but you can see how much you have.
Next, I’ll go in depth with the sections of your User CP…
Private Messages
Here, you can exchange/view private messages with other members of the forums as long as they don’t have the private message feature turned off. PMs aren’t the most efficient way of talking to someone though, so if that is what you want, I suggest using IM.
Subscribed Threads
In every thread there’s a place where you can subscribe to that thread and the forum will send you a message when there’s activity in the thread –
In this section of your User CP, you can view everything about your subscribed threads.
Edit Signature
Pretty self-explanatory. Here you can edit your signature
Edit Profile
Also pretty self-explanatory. Here you can change your personal info, such as date of birth, whether to display it, your home page, and your IM screenames.
Edit Options
Here you can edit your personal forum options, including who you want to receive emails from, subscription modes, private messaging options, and much more.
My Profile
(The miscellaneous button is unclickable)
Here you can view your profile as others would see it.
Edit Favorite Smilies
If you put a checkmark on any of the smilies here, they are added to the menu that pops up when you click the bigwhile you’re posting, and also below your post while you’re posting. Otherwise you could just access a command list of how to put them on by clicking the
and More Smilies.
FAQ
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions. Self explanatory – just little things that might come up while you’re on the forums are answered here.
Members List
Lists all the members registered on the forums. You can make it sort them however you want, and you can search by name. Clicking on a name brings up that user’s profile.
Calendar
A calendar of birthdays of users on the forums…..that goes up to December 31, 2006. -_-
iSpy
Ahhh, the iSpy. A very useful tool if you’re sitting on the forums with nothing to do. It automatically updates as new posts are made, and gives previews of the posts, you don’t even have to refresh
Wiki
This is a decent place to start learning how to script, however, in my opinion, Tutorial Island is better. This includes sections on Basic/Advanced Scripting Techniques, an SRL-Include Glossary, SRL Trouble Shooting, and R0b0t1 (LolProbably a week after this tutorial is writing that last section won’t exist, and now that I said that you’re probably going to go edit it right now).
Bug Tracker
Here you can report any bugs you find in the SRL include.
New Posts
This is somewhat similar to iSpy. Clicking on it brings up all the posts you’ve missed since your last visit, and if you’re just browsing around, you can click it see recent posts, but you have to refresh if you want it to update.
Search
Click this to search for keywords in a thread or post. Use this before posting a question or concern of your own to make sure it hasn’t been answered before.
Quick Links
Most of these are pretty self-explanatory. If there are any you feel aren’t, please say so. They are basically just a compiled list of links that you could otherwise access by going to User CP, New Posts, etc.
Donate
Donate! The only widely-known perk is that 100x100 avatar (ANYBODY CAN GET THIS, you don’t have to be an SRL Member+). I’m sure there are some other things as well, but I can’t be certain. Any Site Supporter that leaks what the rewards are will be stripped of their Site Supporter rank. Any amount will do.
Log Out
Self-explanatory. If you have read this far spell the first word of your post with two of the same letter to start (ex: This would be Tthis).
Hope you enjoyed reading my guide
Happy….using the toolbar?
