    Default Requirement for new users!

Ok, I know everyone including myself is sick of seeing all the new registered user posting 3 different times a day about how to become a jr. member. I have seen plenty of TUT's about it to the point where its now hard to not see them. In my opinion, if it is possible(im near positive that it is) then everytime a new user registers, instead of being re-directed to the forums they should be re-directed to a Forum usage TUT, and a Q&A thread or something. Hopefully that would, if nothing else, decrease the number of these pointless annoiying posts.
    What are your thought?

MoparIsTheBest has a quiz before you can post - and i think it's a great idea

If SRL made a quiz, only relevant to setting up scar, before they were able to post, the forums would be much cleaner

    i defs agree with this
Sign Up --> Login --> Help Threads --> Quiz --> Forum Entry

Yeah that would be even better that way you can guarantee that they read it.

doom9 has a pretty good system where new sign ins have to wait a week before they can post. I think that would keep a lot of the rif raf out.

A quiz is a good idea as well as most people wont read anything even if it is right in front of them.

That wont make them read it. A quiz before posting will. Perhaps we could even require a 100% on all ten questions and then just issue the ten most common noob questions as the quiz. That way they will be forced to find their own answers.

I made a thread kinda about this..

    well.. not really.. but yeah..

I can't go to the forums page now that I'm a junior member, so I have to search.. idk if this is an error or if they set it up like this now.. but.. I think there are way too many spammers..

and it is WAY to easy to get junior members :\

you should have to make a script that is decent before you can be junior

    1. Signup
    2. Forced Tut (~5 Minutes)
    3. Quiz (Must get > 75%)
    4. Script Example (Must show basic knowledge, must not use other people's procedures)
    5. ???
    6. PROFIT!

Just my opinion. Would cut down LARGELY on the spam/useless posts.

I like that, but Script Example may be pushing it a little just to get Registered User and be able to post. Although! I DO think that you should have to show knowledge of scripting in order to become jr. members.

Well I too may be a new member, but I think its pretty obvious that you should read the board rules, as well as any info that could affect your posting. Since I have joined, I have seen many topics from long ago (6months+) being bumped up by new members just to get their post count up, and some users just posting "yeah good script" or "thankyou for script" which is really pointless. I like my responses to be helpful to the scripter, like pointing out some errors, after I have tried to update my files, and test out different ways to solve the problem myself.

That's another thing, people generally just post their problems without looking at what THEY did wrong. It is always the scripter's fault that the script isn't working, when they probably did something wrong. If the script is only not working for you then obviously its your own fault for not following directions.

Anyways, I still am technically new here on these forums, but I have been around other forums for quite some time, so I do know how people are when it comes to rules, and they usually never read them. I would even suggest a randomly generated quiz for the rules just so the newer users have to have read at least some part of the rules and know a what they are talking about, and what the forums accepts and disallows. Since in a way, they are just trying to get their 10 posts and become a junior member get the better scripts, and then never post again.

Leastwise make some sort of general knowledge quiz for account applications so people just don't go spamming the boards.

I suggest that there is some sort of form with the questions. The user can explore the whole forums while they still do not have privileges to post. That way they are forced to use the search button (or at least search) to find the answers.

maybe users with < a weeks longevity and, <a certain amount of posts has to answer a question before posting>? then they'd learn and start doing it even if it takes time.

Not bad, but what sort of question would be required to answer?... if there would be one... who would set the standard?...

Personally I think the post count should be 20.... and maybe two weeks time... Also when they sign up, have a 'thing' that they have to read stating the use of this community and that it is used for knowledge and wisdom get.

    EDIT: N C D S posted in the same minute I did.... (''')(^¿^)(''')
