    Default [FIX] updated SPS images

I noticed the images used in sps were very much incorrect in a few areas, so I had the new map created and sliced. and I've posted a link to the new, correct images.

    PNG: http://www.filedropper.com/runescapesurfacepng_1

    BMP: http://www.filedropper.com/runescapesurfacebmp_1

EDIT 2: Fixed the images, they should be perfect now (:

EDIT: It appears as though the images are a bit darker than what we see in the minimap, so these will not work. Very odd, let me see if I can make them work.

Oh damn! Great work! I myself don't even know how to properly make SPS maps, seems like it was quite a bit of work, very helpful!

    Thanks! (:

I was actually browsing through the srl sources and I ran across SPS and noticed a script that does it for you.

It wasn't updated to SRL 5 so I had to do some very slight editing, but I got it to work.

So I don't take full credit, I just noticed that it needed to be done, so I did it (:

    The edited script is attached!

I'm sooo glad you used the script to do it! I wrote it for a reason, and not many people know about it. I'll check them out.

Oh and you were right to notify me as I am the only one who can commit fixes to the repository.

E: What exactly did you edit in the creator file?

E2: I've committed these maps. Seem to be working well for me so far.

It's not often you find a new user do something like this properly.

    Nice work.

Great. Maybe this will fix some walking issues people have been experiencing in some locations.

    That's what I'm hoping for!

It definitely fixed the walking issues in my Summoning script!

@Fwd Motion: Thanks for your fix, and thanks to Coh3n for committing the change.

I was experiencing a lag in clicking on the next point in my walk path in my Piscatoris fishing script.

Exclamation Which map extension - BMP or PNG

I noticed that the original (if you like) SPS runescape maps, and it's slices are in PNG format, but if you use the updated tool that Fwd Motion posted and Coh3n commited - then you get BMP files.

Does it make a difference which format you use ? Do you need to edit something in the SPS code to get it to use BMP or is this already catered for ?

Can anyone confirm for me which folders the map and sliced sections need to be in for SPS to work ?

I have taken a look - but my mind is now running around in circles (perhaps I've been looking at it for too long and need a rest )

Any help / advice would be gratefully received. Thank you!

As far as I know, the PNG's just offered smaller file sizes, and are preferred to BMP's because the images have to be shunted through the updater. I could be wrong.

    Which updater is that ?

Previously, there were two separate tools that Coh3n wrote. One to create the SPS runescape map, the other to slice it into 500 x 500 pixels.

I see that the new / updated one does both depending on the booleans that are set at the beginning of the script.

The SPS updater menu. In the Simba toolbar.

    Aha, yes. I knew that

Jokes aside, I keep all the parts of Simba and Co updated. Thought perhaps you may be talking about 'another' updater. Sorry!

EDIT: Did you see my post about your portal finder routine ?

I actually was wondering the same thing, that's why I uploaded both bmp files and png files, I wasn't sure if the bmp's were even useful. After the map was created and sliced, I just used a converter to convert them to png's because the bmp's didn't work.

    Hi Fwd Motion

Did you add the BMP format to the script that Coh3n wrote for creating the SPS runescape map, and slices ?

I'm trying to get a handle on what SPS needs to work - and how one makes ones own maps etc.

Yeah, everything was done in BMP format until I was ready for SPS, then I converted the maps to PNG

Ah, OK - then the map and slices need to be .png then and not .bmp ?

My simple thought here would be that as it was in .png that we should keep it that way. I just didn't know when the .bmp had come onto the scene.

No worries - it's all part of the learning process. Perhaps if I could read code well enough, I would have seen that.

You need to use .png, yes. I also used optiPNG (google it ) to compress the image sizes further (cut the sizes in half) to minimize download time.

Does that not lower the image quality?

No, that's the point of optiPNG.
