    Smile First script. Need idea.

    Well I've been studying pascal and Simba code structure and whatnot for a few days and have a good grip on the basics. I've watched YoHoJo's 3 video series and read Coh3n's beginners guide to Simba scripting. I really feel like I'm ready to take on a script by myself.

    I don't want anything too difficult. Just a good first script but I don't really want it to be like the other 100 powerminers or powercutters.

    I want something new. Something that can help me get down all the essential programming aspects but also be useful to me and other users. I really want to help improve the SRL community and I think that this is a great way to start it off. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    I highly suggest you do start with a banking miner or woodcutter, it gives you a good basis to start on using multiple techniques.

    It doesn't have to be cliche, there are numerous places nobody has covered yet. I'm sure you can think of something fun to do

    Something simple would be a flax picker. I'm not sure if SRL has one of those yet. Something simple to test your knowledge of the basics

    Any sort of fighter will help you tackle a variety of different things. It may be difficult but if you can make a combat script, you can make any other script. Just a simple killer and banker possibly will work just fine.

    I like a fighter idea.. don't do banking yet.. wait until you release it, then update it often. That will REALLY get you to grasp Simba, and Pascal.

    I am kind of leaning toward either like a yew chopper and banker or like a simple fighter for one monster then update with another monster every once in a while... I dunno.

    Do you have skills you want to train? Starting with skill scripts is my favourite.

    A yew cutter was my first script as well although i did base it on SIN's it eventually became mine. It became a pretty popular script as i can see on the stats website :P

    Maybe start with a simple woodcutter to get the grips then move onto a swamp toad collector or fighter. Fighters will be alot harder.

    Yeah. I'm going to do a yew chopper/banker. Hopefully make a few gp's (Got lured, I know newb move, and lost full arma. Only 5m left.) then after I get script structure down, I think Ima do a Fishing Guild Shark Fisher. The MSI one runs for maybe 50 minutes. I hope to make a better one that can go 5+ hours. First I will script the yew thing though. Getting too ambitious =)

    Being ambitious is good Means you've got goals and that's the only way you will become i good scripter.

    What i usually do is write down somewhere what i want the script to do and how i want it structured.

    So for example you might want.

    FindYew
    CutYew
    Wait Until Invo Is full
    Bank

    This could be implemented into the scripts main loop by.

    Repeat
    repeat;
    FindYew;
    CutYew;
    until(InvFull)
    Bank;
    Until(false)
    end.

    But there a lot of different ways to do such thing just go through other peoples scripts and see how they have done it then implement your own way.
