Default Is Russia still a key world power?

Good article from the BBC. I wonder if Russia will simply ally with China and they'll both try and topple the USA? Or are all three countries working together through the 1%?

Either way I think Russia will, and always has been, a key world power. They've got some sneaky tactics.

I still have a belief that there is a global world conspiracy called The New World Order through the Trilateral Commission.

1% control the puppets (politicians), create laws that benefit them etc.

That is an interesting article indeed. With the whole Syrian conflict and ISIS it is good to see they are getting positively involved

Russia is most definitely still a key world power. Just look at how flustered the US has been the last 10~ years dealing inadequately with Putin. They're powerful enough that no-one can really do anything if they were to pull Crimea over and over again. At least while Putin is still in power, I don't see that changing. It's really an example of what you can actually do when you have someone competent and respected at the helm. Especially in the case of pushing limits and goals for your country such as Putin's calculated aggression in Georgia, Crimea, and Syria now although I am probably missing a few compared to setting crazy bad ones like Obama's red line in Syria and 0 troops in Iraq by 20XX. Maybe if Putin (was US president somehow) passed Obamacare and then defended it, I doubt Republicans would have spent the past (almost) decade trying to repeal it. You see Obama's image of weakness being a problem as this debt ceiling and other minor bills not passing was something that not even Bush with his "all our childrens is learning" comments on TV had to deal with.

I'd also say the fact that since their economic numbers are looking bad at a point where Russia is still perceived as competitive with and even considered to be 'winning' against the US, there is no way that you cannot say Russia is a key world power.

Well said. I always wonder how the USA will pay its debt, or whether the economy can just sustain it by printing more money. I'm hoping Russia still contributes to innovation, and global competition. Think they've got a long way to go with human rights etc, which should benefit them in the long run. But there's a sense of sneakiness around them, and I'd never fully trust them, unless they had an open Government.

If you had 30%+ of whole world nuclear power, yes, you would be a key world power.

Warning after Russian journalist 'monitored for suspicious behaviour' near UK military base
The man was recorded by army security cameras as he allegedly filmed close to the Berkshire base's perimeter fence, say reports.
Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson has urged the public to remain vigilant following claims a Russian journalist was monitored for "suspicious behaviour" near a British military base.

The minister's warning comes after a man was reportedly seen repeatedly going past the 77th Brigade's barracks in Hermitage, Berkshire.

He is said to have been recorded by security cameras and was allegedly filming close to the base's perimeter fence, according to the Mail on Sunday.
"We take the security of our bases and personnel incredibly seriously," said Mr Williamson.

"If a member of the public sees anyone acting suspiciously in or around a military base it should be reported to the police as a matter of urgency."

The reports follow increasing tensions between London and Moscow over the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury earlier this year.

The UK accused Russia's GRU military intelligence agency of being behind the attack, while Moscow repeatedly rejected the claims.
General Mark Carleton-Smith, the new head of the British Army, issued a warning last month, saying Russia posed a greater threat to national security than terrorist groups such as al Qaeda and Islamic State.

The 77th Brigade, modelled on the specialist Chindits unit which fought in Burma during the Second World War, was set up in 2015 consisting of soldiers with propaganda, political activism and social media skills.
