Default Low End Games for PC

    Hello there!

I'm looking for some decent games to play on my old laptot.
Please share with me your favorite titles! :-)
Any genre is good, but preferably only recent ones please, EXCEPT if you have "must play" old classics. If the game's platform can be emulated on pc, then you can say those too.

    Thank you
    Torol

"Recent" and "low-spec" don't play nice together.

With the "recent" caveat, you're going to get a lot of answers which fall into one or both of the following categories:

    • Indie
    • "Minimal graphics" / "simple graphics"

Examples would be The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Terraria, Minecraft (on low settings), Floating Point, Crawl, Don't Starve and Axiom Verge. I'm sure you can come up with more examples now that you're aware of the archetype -- I don't follow the indie gaming scene.

But here's my dump anyway. Most of these are >= a decade old. The majority of them can run comfortably on both Windows and GNU/Linux (with some tweaks of course).

    Planescape: Torment
    Baldur's Gate
    NoX
Neverwinter Nights (the original game, not the MMO or any of the remakes)
    Diablo I & II
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Civilization I, II & possibly III
    Warcraft II, possibly III
Age of Empires I & II (including expansions)
    Anachronox
Theif (the original & its sequel, not the remake)
    Doom I & II
    Duke Nukem 3D
Blood: One Unit Whole Blood (I like this better than Doom or Duke 3D)
Abuse (best MS-DOS game I've ever played, incredibly fun and has aged insanely well)
    Tyrian 2000
The Elder Scrolls I, II, III & possibly IV with the Oldblivion mod
Unreal Tournament (up to and including UT2004)
    MDK - Murder Death Kill
    Half-Life
Deus Ex (the original, all the others suck)
    System Shock 2
    Freespace 2
    Gothic 1 & 2
    Starcraft 2
    F.E.A.R.
    Fallout 1 & 2
    FlatOut 1, possibly 2
    Halo: CE
    Hitman 1 & 2

RuneScape is a ubiquitous, half-sarcastic suggestion.

    GOG.com is a great resource.

Let me know if you want more (I can go by year, genre, "similar to," presence of jiggle physics, pretty much any factor).

    Oh, and post specs.

I can't stand simulation games, but I nevertheless recognize that Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 & 2 are awesome.

I can only give a personal opinion, it's up to you to decide whether you like them or not. I personally liked almost all of them (except Stronghold 3, I haven't started playing it yet), including the newest Stronghold Crusader 2.

Look up 'RPG MO' on Steam, it's a 2d isometric rpg that is heavily inspired from Runescape (classic). It's a lot of fun!

Undertale, has a ton of replayability and has some great 4th wall breaks. It also helps that the game is incredibly unique in its gameplay too. My recommendation would be to go into the game blind and experience it yourself without any guides or anything, sure you may miss a few things but you can clean up those things in later playthroughs, it is worth it in the end to get such a memorable experience out of it.

Undertale and League of Legends would be my two suggestions for games to play on a low end PC. Don't starve is also another good one. Before I got my new computer, I would play League at min graphics at 30 fps. Sure it was annoying, but it was all I had.
