Introduction
Hello guys. Since I started doing Sinkholes, I have gained so far 73-79 Dungeoneering, and I like them a lot. Then I thought that maybe I should write a guide about them and give back to the community. So, the time has come, and there it is.
Now let's move to the subject. Sinkholes are
twice-daily activities, which are very similar to Dungeoneering floors. When you finish a Sinkhole, you get some rewards, which I will talk about later. These are especially good to do for people who aren't training Dungeoneering that much and still want to gain a few levels. Also, they can be quite suitable for skillers, because the teams are made randomly.
Getting to Sinkholes
So you're probably wondering "I want to play, but where do I find these Sinkholes?", well, let's start off with the official world. Official world for Sinkholes is
World 134. Now, to find them, you must get your Ring of Kinship and select option 'Teleport to Daemonheim'. There is a guy, called Talsar, who can teleport you to the Sinkhole's location 3 minutes before the Sinkhole appears. You can find him here.
Be careful. Sinkholes appear each hour, but the time for them is 30 minutes into the actual hour. For example, if you are on a world 134, you will get a message in the game chat similar to this "A sinkhole will appear in 10 minutes!". You will get this message at 20 minutes into the hour, which means they spawn every hour, but 30 minutes into the actual hour. For example 1:30 PM; 2:30 PM and so on.
How to Play
Okay, I'll just assume that you have teleported to the location of a Sinkhole. It appeared, and you teleported into it. Now bank all your items and when you have done that, find a NPC called
Gorajo hoardstalker. Right click on him, and select 'Enter dungeon'.
He will say something about waiting while he finds you a party. Wait. Wait some more. Don't worry, you will get there. Boom! You're in a dungeon with another 4 different people! If this is your first time playing this activity, you will be without armor. Find one in the corner of a starting room.
Okay, so you have some armor and a weapon! My favorite is ranged, because you can shoot targets from a distance and that gives you an advantage against melee'ers. Mage is quite usefull too, but my Magic is 99, so using ranged is more useful for me.
Okay, so to complete a Sinkhole, your team must collect a required number of 3 different resources.
Any raw fish/logs/other material - there are usually from 1 to 4 material resources in each room. They give 10 points for each resource once deposited.
Exploratory totems - open new rooms and pick them up from the ground. Each one gives 20 score points once deposited.
Combat totems - kill the monsters in the room to get these. Each one gives 30 score points once deposited.
You have 7 minutes - but don't worry! Usually the dungeon is finished with around 3 minutes to spare. Even a 3 player team could do it. Just don't stack up too much on the resources, because once the required number is met, you won't get any points for the extra ones.
Cards
When you start a Sinkhole, you will notice that under Exploratory totems there are some cards. Collect them, just don't pick up the ones you already have - they will help you with the rewards! These cards can also be gained when killing monsters or collecting resources. They are extremely useful, because you can change your 'faith' in the Treasure Room, where all the rewards are given. Usually you can Right-click Examine these cards, but I'll just drop a list of cards and their effects here (sorry for copying it from Wiki, but there is no use in doing another one which will be the same).
My favorites are Cloning Mosquito, Trading Mantis and Scavenging Meerkat.
Rewards
Once all 3 types of resources are collected, your team will get teleported to Treasure Room
Rewards are
Huge Dungeoneering Lamp
Large Dungeoneering Lamp
Medium Dungeoneering Lamp
Small Dungeoneering Lamp
Dungeoneering Tokens
A piece of Gorajo Hoardstalker clothing
NOTE: This is a rather uncommon reward, because only a piece can be generated from the
Preening Ibis card.
We are in the Treasure Room. Firstly, the reward boxes are mixed up. First ranked player will always get a Huge Lamp. But wait, it's not over yet! That's where the cars play their part. Using them, you can change your reward, for example, trade your chest with the next ranked player, add a medium lamp to your chest, well, check out cards and their effects above.
Once every player has made a move (or skipped one, if selected), you will get the rewards and the Sinkhole will be complete! You can either teleport to a Sinkhole's Entrance in order to do the Sinkhole for the 2nd time, or you can teleport to Daemonheim. Congratulations on your rewards!
XP Lamp rates
Well, you all know, that the rates vary on your current level. I will only be adding the experience if all 3 objectives are done (obviously you will get them all done before the timer ends).
One small note: You will get number of tokens equal to 5% of experience are received together with the lamp, or you will get 10% if you get a piece of clothing.
XP Reward Table
Unfortunately, there is no information about Dungeoneering Token rates alone, but from my personal and others experience you usually get around 3500 tokens, so it's not worth taking tokens alone instead of XP Lamps.
Well, I hope that you had a nice read and found something useful here. Thank you for your attention, I hope this guide help you!
