Default is it just me? or... (bots not working)

i have downloaded 3 scripts now.. and each one has a problem with it.

isit just me? or is simba not as reliable as it seems?

i followed all 4 videos and everything is set up properly.. i just guess either 1) idk what im doing or 2) the scripts are poorly described and not easily usable..

the three i have are hoodzfighter... haxzflaxer.. and rangeguild minigame..

the auto fighter works okay.. just it spazzes out and it wont attack any monsters.. and i cant find any monsters that it seems to recognize.
the haxzflaxer just walks right by the flax field... and after doingthe suggestions the creator said.. it still doesnt work.
and for the last one, the range guild one.. it doesnt even attempt to work. it spins atthe range guild guy...and once it realizes that i have the ammo, it clicks on the target once and the bot has a error message.

please help, i am looking forward to botting, and also looking forward to learning how to create scripts. but i have to say my first experience is not going well at all.. and i really do not want to travel to another bot service!!

thanks!! feel free to PM me or comment here

It sounds like you have simba installed and setup correctly. It's just that because of how recent RS was released (and to be competitive/keep leeches from having too easy a time/etc.), a lot of the scripts currently available have flaws. Some of the scripts are still in their 'infancy stage.' It's likely that several of the coders creating these scripts are in their 'infancy' stage as well.

TLDR: Don't expect the scripts that are published right now to be flawless.

Several of the errors you're having might be answered in script's thread.

If nothing else, you could try to read and attempt to understand the code--and then see if you can fix the problem yourself. Coding is kind of like learning a new language (spelling/grammar/etc.), except coding language isn't nearly as complex (imho). If you choose this option, there are a handful of great tutorials in the Tutorials section that will get you started.

i appreciate what you have to say. it clears things up just enough for me to understand what is going on. i will try my best to learn, and keep an eye out for more updated versions of scripts. hopefully i will begin to learn

    thank you so much.

A lot of times at this point when someone does make a script that is able stable and almost flawless, they'll keep it for themselves since they'll be the only ones using it and will hardly appear as a bot. I mean, if you could make a ton of gp rather than release your script for free and have the market drop and have nerds complaining in your thread about how your script is broken because they didn't set up includes properly. I'll pick profit every time.

if thats the case.. then no one should be releasing scripts. the scripts that are being released should not give false hope of working, if the owner has the "flawless" one to himself. that's just f'd up.

The thing about an open source community like us, is that the users (non-script writers) are the testers that help the scripter find bugs, or even help him fix the bugs for everyone to use. You can't ask people who have never done any programming before to be perfect without that, and I'll be honest, the majority of 07 scripters right now (not all though)? They don't have prior experience. But you're also not paying them, so you're still getting better than you paid for.

If you exclusively want to pay for scripts, you can go to sources such as Tribot or Sythe. However, I do not vouch for quality in any manner and I have never used them myself, I am aware they exist.

Eventually the better scripters may walk over to 07 or the current 07 scripters may improve here however. But that will likely take some time. For now, I'm keeping an eye on Jelknab and WThomas as a couple of the best current 07 scripters around here

it looks like both of those are closed down.

this is the only bot i have seen that actually works, paid or not paid. and i am kind of disappointed in lack of feedback.

    Lack of feedback?.

Its simple, most scripts are posted by none srl member, so they clearly aren't the best.

I dunno about Tribot as I've never even looked at them beyond word of mouth, but Sythe is most definitely still open. They attract many Villavu users as they are allowed to charge for scripts in Simba. Charging however, does not guarantee a quality and I am not responsible for any purchases you may choose to make.

Lack of feedback relating to what? You're the user, you're the person supposed to be giving feedback to the developers. As far as script quality goes, samerdl is correct:

This is true, most 07 scripts are created by people that aren't in the Member ranking simply because most higher developers are sticking around in EOC or waiting until certain things are changed to improve 07 botting in general. The majority of 07 developers I've noticed have joined and learned the language within the last 2 months, you're not exactly looking at experts with that. (No offense to anyone, but with time comes practice and skill )

i am not trying to come off as a hard-ass or someone who seems like i know what i am talking about, so i appologize if it seems that way.

i just have never experienced botting before, and i just am a bit confused. i am also realizing that i am deciding to look for bots very early inthe 07' stages. maybe that is why i am seeing lack of "flawless".. like the eoc style has

i will just shut my mouth, and sit back and wait or better yet, learn.

thank you both for the responses!
