    Default Programming

Well when I leave school I would like to be a programmer, but I'm really not that good at all. SCAR atm is the only programming language I know which I'm not even good at and heck I don't even know what language it's based on.
You apparently need to be a very good programmer to get a decent paying job. Is this true?
I am 15 which means I have about 3 years until uni but I doubt i could become an uber programmer by then. So should I just give up on this whole programming thing?
    What are ur thoughts/advice

EDIT: If someone says u can do anything if u put ur mind to it or something corny like that I will personally hunt u down and shoot u

    Its based on pascal :P

Learn delphi, its pretty much exactly the same. haha.

And if you ever need any help with it just contact me, I've been studying it at college for 2 years so far. I'd advise you to stick with your dreams (shoot me). You dont get a job at uni, you just learn more. haha.

You really don't. Going from Scar to Delphi is extremely easy, http://delphi.about.com is a really helpful site for beginners.

It really depends on what kind of programming you want to do. If you want to do website design kind of stuff, then start learning some of the languages c0de suggested. If you are more into game/software development, then C++ would probably be the best.

If you devote even just a few hours a week, you will be very good at your chosen language by the time you go to a university.

When I hit 16 (I'm 13 now) I'm going to start reading lots of C++ and train, then I'm going to finish schools and then I'm going to search a company that needs C++ programmers.
I'll tell you what happens (after 3 years lol ))

Rk, we are in the exact same position here. Wow. I really enjoy programming and all, but know nothing about it. I only know HTML & CSS, and I'd like to get into the business of a web-design vertical integration company. Like everything from owning the web-hosting servers to making the pages. I'm not sure exactly where I'd like to go in, but I'd prefer to either work w/ coding pages or entering another business that builds programs using C and other programming languages like that.

    Good luck!

PS: I'm downloading Delphi Enterprise 2007 right now, but I don't know how to access the free trial =[..it's asking for a serial code.

lol we are on a scripting/programming forum alot of people here probably want to do programming and most others most likely enjoy it. i want to do computer science ... programming/engineering when i go to university, so ya... count me in

@rkroxpunk... i wouldnt worry about becomming an "uber" programmer before university, get an understanding but i wouldnt worry about "uber", you will probably end up re learning alot when you go.
