    Default Hey everyone

Hey everyone. I've recently decided to join this community in hopes of starting a small(or possibly large if I'm good at it) bot farm. About two weeks ago I didn't bot, didn't like bots, and wanted them all to die in a fire, however, Fagex decided to perm ban my main for macroing/goldfarming, which I wasn't doing and havn't ever done, without any kind of warning. Two weeks later and no response to my appeals, support tickets, or emails from multiple accounts, so I figured what the hell, if I'm getting accused for it I might as well be doing it. They took away my childhood, so I will do my best to piss them off, and hopefully make a bit of extra cash in the process

I'm currently going for a CS degree and I'm a computer nerd, so I will definitely be learning to write scripts and contribute to the community. Most of my programming experience is with C/C++, BASH scripting, and a touch of JavaScript, but I'm sure I can pick up on Pascal/Lape(from what I've read on here Lape is the new standard?) just fine. I've done quite a bit of research on RS botting, and this seems to be the safest way to go since all the Java bots have been getting mass bans for quite a while now.

I won't be home for a day or two, so I probably won't dive into Simba today since I'm running Ubuntu and it seems that Simba doesn't play all that well with Linux. My desktop at home(Also running Linux) is a beast so I'll probably just run a Windows VM for all my botting needs.

Also, I've been digging through the forums and noticed SRL 5 no longer works for RS3, but SLR 6 does? But SRL 6 isn't finished, right? So what kind of mods will I have to do to be able to write RS3 scripts? Sorry if these questions aren't in the right place, just looking for a good place to start.

Anyway, didn't mean to ramble. I'm looking forward to writing some scripts and making some new friends.

    Heya RS,

Coming from someone who have ran several major botfarms in the past; farming isn't as easy as some make it out to be lol. You mind find it eating up significant sections of your day, altough if you stick with it and get it running the profits can be better than your average wage. Out of curiosity; mind sharing the specs of your worksation?

SRL6 is in a working state for most desired functionality. Some work is currently being done on Text recognition using OCR algorithms to help improve text reading, however there are certain 'hacks' in place here and there for certain parts of even that anyway. LAPE is indeed the new standard. It's a really easy pickup from Java/C#, but C++ should do fine as well (it's higher level like the prior 2).

Every botting platform gets bans. We just get far less. Keep in mind that a lot of that comes from botting more intelligently in addition to us adding more randomness to our scripts, and isn't necessarily just the platform we're coming from. (Although, it does seem like many other bots are being hit from a client detection nowadays).

As for bot farming... I didn't bot for shit until I ran through some undeserved Jagex issues myself that they failed to respond to (ticket's been open for over a year now). As for a farm, you may find your CS degree much more profitable in the long run than most farms. However, that is not to say that you can't use it to earn fair side money, especially during college. Definitely focus on your degree first though, and good luck!

    I'm running a i7 @ 3.5Ghz, 32GB of RAM, GeForce GTX 650 2GB graphics card, a 128GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD for storage.

I'm definitely not going to drop out of school to run my farm lol, just hoping for some extra cash on the side. I figure it'll be a good way to learn a bit more CS too. I don't expect to learn any in depth programming, or how to make the next Google, but it seems like it'll be a good way to practice algorithms and my problem solving skills.

Solid server right there buddy, not too far off my own I think you'd be surprised at both how much a gold farm can cash in, and also how much work is required to maintain it.

Thank you I do expect to put a fair amount of time into it, especially since I want to use scripts I've wrote, and not leech from the ones out there. I don't think I'll have more than 10 going at the most, so I'm hoping that'll be a manageable amount.

Sounds interesting. Personally I have capacity for around 50 bots, and may be looking to dive into goldfarming again. So seems like we may share common interests, lol.
