I use zone alarm , been happy with it for quite some time.(i never was happy with avg, haven't tried avast but i have heard good things)
(shhh... and if you look you can find a keygen for the pro version so it be free)

ps:symantic is really, really hard to completely remove from your comp(same with avg)

    Avast definitely.

It works VERY good and uses quite minimal System Memory.

I think BitDefender won the award for best anti-virus 2007.
AVG Free is only anti-virus with no firewall.

You will find alot of people with call a program they don't use shit, unless it's Norton, that IS shit. But a while ago everyone was saying McAfee was good, but why do these people say this? Is it becase others say it and if enough people say something you tend to agree? Probably but then again

Can't argue with the top ten, I don't even know why norton is in there, that just makes me think that all those anti-virus software applications suck, I mean... Norton... In the top ten!? WTF IZ U 0N BUD!?

AVG free ftw. Also it's not hard to remove lol...symnatic is though

EDIT: Also get AVG Spyware Free and use the Windows Firewall.

    lets see....
    NOD32 the best to me
AVG worked fine for a while but doesnt detect viruses deep down in the system until another av has detected it ...
Norton hate it... dont use it although norton DOES have some cool apps included
Panda Platinum worked great for me although expensive ( I LOVE MY KEYGENS)
and thats about all the av and internet security suites ive used nod32 being the best prolly

You don't need install SRL. Just opne SCAR download Includes along with SRL package and then go to the Program Files -> Scar Folder -> Includes -> SRL and run SRLSetup. Next time make a thread in the proper section. Either the noob forum or the SRL help section.

Common sense is the best anti-virus that there is but when that occasionally fails me I fall back on ZoneAlarm Security Suite. It's got it all. Firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, junk e-mail filters, cookie controls, ad blocker, blocks known spyware sites, cache cleaner, identity protection, instant messaging security, capability to encrypt instant messages between ZonAlarm Security Suite users, and probably another thing or two that I don't know about. To be honest I had to check what all it had and I've been using it for a couple years.

My only complaint is the stupidass method that the current version uses for program control. It has an "autolearn" feature in which it has temporarily lowered security for a short while after you install it until it "learns" what programs you trust and then it goes into "Maximum" security mode. I think this is just some bullshit. The computer can't fucking "learn" what programs I trust because it isn't asking me about each and every program on my computer and what it is allowed to do or not do. It's taken me out of the loop as much as it can where as the previous version could be set up so it asks me about every little tiny thing. It'd take maybe 15 minutes to run all of my most frequently used programs and then answer its questions about what they are allowed to do and then that was done.

Unless I'm mistaken though the free ZoneAlarm firewall still does things the right way. Now that I've remembered how riled I am over the non thinking computer program trying to take the thinking computer user out of the loop I'm going to go download the free firewall and kick it oldschool like I did before all of the piracy and serial numbers.

I'm aware that autolearn can be turned off but it still just isn't the same as the old way where it just asked you about everything. If you skip autolearn and just turn it straight to maximum then it will block some things without even asking you about it. There's no happy medium for the Security Suite. Maximum will block things without asking you, AutoLearn will allow things without asking you, and Low is basically the same thing as always having it set to Autolearn.

Earlier today I tried out ZonAlarm Pro which doesn't have AutoLearn yet has all of the firewall and antispyware functionality of ZoneAlarm Security Suite. My thinking was that I could download all of the individual components of the Security Suite and install all of them which would leave me with everything the Security Suite has to offer yet none of the bullshit of Security Suite. The problem with this is that you can't install more than one ZoneAlarm security product on your computer which is some more bullshit.
