Default Any Current Active web Devs in the Community?

    Hey,

I'm getting more into web-dev things, this section seems pretty dead, but I was wondering if any members have web-dev experience/actively do it?

I know I can always post in one of the web-dev forums/search stackoverflow/google, but it would be nice to be able to bounce ideas off of some people via skype.

For web-dev right now all I know is some html/css/javascript, coming from a python/c++ background, and i'm just looking to expand my knowledge/build some cool websites and possibly web applications.

Might resort to a CMS after all.. maybe Drupal or Wordpress with a child theme. Or just Bootstrap.

That's the way to go! Makes life so much easier, and if you have some knowledge, customizing a theme isn't too hard at all

Haha yeah.. Drupal is pretty nice. I used WordPress before. Might go with Drupal this time, it's a bit more technical but I like the challenge. Or a Premium Wordpress template and I would be set.. I'll see :P

I want to create a layout similar to http://www.gnarlydigital.com/ (randomly found it)
    Clean, flat and responsive.

And if you struggle you can just take any similar "one pager" and "get inspired"(copy) the code!

I was the same way, but honestly I don't have any time to work on my site, let along make posts. I went with Wordpress and did a few custom things. So much easier.

Yeah I switched to Wordpress as well! I'm building my own custom theme based on Bootstrap. It's quite interesting and I must admit Wordpress gives me a solid base to build from.

I do web-dev stuff. Since you are coming from python experience I would suggest looking into Django. I recently started to use a php framework called Symfony2 which makes the work a lot easier for me, feel free to check it out.

As mentioned above, I would go with Bootstrap. The learning curve is not bad and you end up with a quality site.
