You see that? It was rejected pretty hard. It was filed in 2007; before the iPhone 2g was even released (patents are filed before products are released). Android didn't even exist back then.

So explain why exactly would apple be screwed and not android when they were the first to have it? Copying from another "DEVICE". It doesn't matter which store you stole it from. Apple is stealing from a store on their own device. Android is stealing from a store that didn't exist for them but I guess you are technically right. From "Cydia".
I'm not saying that android could, I'm saying that android could as much as apple could. If neither of them can patent something it doesn't make sense to say "well what if..." for one case but not the other.

-_- It is patented by Apple. It's their technology. I guess I phrased my statements wrong. I said it "isn't" because they weren't allowed to make claims on the patent. All the claims for it thus far has always been rejected. Think of it this way. You patent some technology you created. Other companies use that tech but you aren't allowed to make claims on it (or they are rejected). There's no compensation for you in that case. It's almost as if your patent never existed.

Apple was awarded the patent successfully in 2007 but since then, all claims on it have been rejected. And I agree that it's pretty stupid they'd be allowed to patent something such as "pinch to zoom" but they do have the rights to it currently. Suing for a $1 billion is a lot.

In either case.. Android still copied it from them. It's their rights; not Google's. Btw.. I like android. Just saying that Google copied first.

Ah, sorry about that. I misread it as the patent was rejected not the patent claim.

@Brandon; All what you have said is pretty true but apple might not have stole as much from android talking from software but the iPhone wasn't solely apple's design, take the swipe to unlock feature, that was copied, apple even got it patented. I just feel that when apple steals something they're more unjust about it, sorta just wants to make you hate em.

Copied from who though? The iPhone 2g had swipe to unlock and this is before android's existence (although Google's CEO was on the Apple board of directors).

July 3rd 2007 from the Engadget Archives:

    Hardware: http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/03/i...face-keyboard/
    Software: http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/03/i...l-safari-ipod/
    Apps/Settings: http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/03/i...itunes-wrapup/

Slide to Unlock is on the "Software" Review near the very bottom of the page. They didn't patent it (I think). They just patented their "gesture recognition" stuff. So I'm not sure that they actually stole that, since they did had it first. If they did steal it, it had to have been from somewhere and before 2007. I believe Motorola worked with them to create the iPhone.

Yeah.. when they do steal, the whole world knows but no one ever realises what gets stolen from them. They tend to make a big deal out of every little "feature" and "thing" they come out with or stole and patent it right away. Maybe that's why.

Still.. no one ever recognises what they didn't steal and who came up with the idea/software/features first. Now they just sell old hardware for way over market price. But back then was different.. Still over-priced.. but different.

@Brandon; I watched some hour long documentary on the swipe to unlock thing but i cant actually remember what it was called. The idea came from some really old computer but it was first patented 3 years before Apple by a company called Neonode, however the company chose not to pursue Apple, (the patents both exist and are both pretty much identical). Nevertheless, I have always said Apple were innovative in the time of Steve Jobs. Right now, iPhones aren't too interesting. the last greatest phone they had was the 4th generation.

I plan to upgrade once my contract runs out but that's not for another year or so, so until then I'll stick to my 5S.

I heard this got someone banned because the clicking from the phone onto the game blew a bunch of botwatch alarms.

That's sort of surprising considering the availability of touchscreen computers that can run runescape. They're not that common yet but they're certainly here. Surface Pro 3 even has relatively good specs.

From what I heard, he was eventually able to explain what he did and overturn it, but still I found it funny that the flags were set off

Milking the consumer at its finest, very well done Mr.Cook. Very well done indeed.

Apple: bending phones is a feature! I'll stick to my aluminum HTC One that doesn't bend in my pocket.

Only + imo about iphones is they do most of what you need and look and feel good. Not too big like samsungs... Which always makes me laugh... Because samsung is south korean, right? And, south korean men are not famous for big hands... Are they?

The iPhone 6 regular is 4.7" while the Galaxy S5 is 5.1"
iPhone 6+ is 5.5" while the Note 3 is 5.7"
Not THAT big of a difference. Mainly the width counted for the bigger screen size for android phones that Apple didn't change until the 6+.
