By the way you can try out Windows 10, there is a preview version of it, free to download.
Wrote a driver for it the day the preview came out.. Damn.. Only then did I realise that explicit signing is required for 64-bit systems as of Windows Vista -__- Test certs no longer work (AT ALL).

And testing anything on Windows 10 is insanely hard.. WAY to many bugs.. DO NOT install this as an upgrade to your current system. There's no way to downgrade and it expires. Every few hours is a new crash. It's more hardware specific than Windows 8 and the WDM drivers suck badly! I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the tiles in the start menu itself. Hard to adjust to. Also can't get used to the start menu since I used Windows 8 for so long.. I find myself pressing the Windows button and expecting the start screen.

P.S. if you write a driver:

It costs $180 for the certificate (which is 3rd party because MS doesn't even sell their own certificates -_-) or else open yourself to a work of hurt and vulnerabilities.. Lol.

I have windows 8 over windows seven simply because when I bought my computer components windows 8 was new, and so it was offered to me for free, as opposed to windows 7 would have cost $100 or so for a valid product key.

I liked windows 7 better. Windows 8 was designed around having a touch screen. Maybe its just me but I don't like touch screens. Touchscreens leave fingerprints and are not practical for gaming for obvious reasons, and they don't make my computer use any more efficient/enjoyable.

8.1 is like a nice stable 8. Don't buy into all the hype. It is definitely nicer and smoother than 7, which was solid as a rock.
