that seems harsh that they would lock up a 71 year old for 8 years (now hes 79). He only wanted to help soemone who was in a lot of pain. Did the person he kill want ot be killed or did thsi old guy just do it out of *sheer kindness*? But that is meen, locking up an old dude for trying to help soemone out.

wtf either Rune u have ur story mixed up or there's 2 doctor deaths and I'm thinking of the other one. What I heard on the news was that he treated tonnes of people and killed quite a few of them.....
Well even tho he's released it's no where near as bad as releasing a psycopathic killer. I mean because they could run round killing everyone but this guy has to treat u like a doctor would, and u unless you're incredibly stupid you wouldn't make him ur monthly doc
    Sleeping...

Yes, it's a pretty big story.

And I'm personally glad he has been released. In my mind he did nothing wrong.

All the patients that he assisted were willing and they were the ones that told him to "help" them. If they were in that much pain and suffering and wanted to be put out of their misery, then why not? Just a little of my 2 cents...

I have no problem with him HELPING, but he was sent to jail when he taped himself actually injecting the drugs, and killing the person, instead of suicide.

    Suicide.
    Suicide.

The patients commited suicide. ( sorry random branching off)

Weird, I always thought he was just a really obscure Artist ..... http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontl...an/aboutk/art/ ....I never knew he was a retired pathologist assisting in suicides....

I don't like that he got locked up.. He was just ending people's suffering when they told him they didn't wanna live anymore.

Think about it: If you had untreatable rectal/lung/throat/stomach cancer, would you wanna go on livinig or just end it? I myself would go on living, wonder what everyone else thinks
Hey lady, I need a yank! Ha ha, dislocation.

Its good that he's free, hey it might be against the law, but all the people he "assisted" did ask him to, they were terminal, now they aren't suffering anymore, ask yourself, if you had six months to a year of pain before you die, would you want someone to "help"you ??
oh boy here comes the flames .........'ducks and puts up antidragon sheild'.

But legalized euthanasia is a bad idea because some people have down moods, and can swing low when something bad happens in their life. I know people that used to feel suicidal and are now happy with their lives. If it was easy for them to painlessly and legally end their lives they might not be enjoying life now.

The doctor death you supplied helped people commit suicide by supplying certian drugs, most of the people either had a terminal illness. There is a second doctor death mostly famous in australia due to his lack of ability as a doctor and his actions which caused a few deaths, Jayant Patel.

I think that Euthanasia should be legal, it enables people who are looking at a long strech of heartache and pain to have the choice. But on the other hand i think it should have strict criteria and all other avenues explored first.
