1. ## The 250m Scripting Competition

The Big 250m Scripting Competition

Results & Discussion can be found here

Entry is open to:

• Registered users
• SRL Junior members

Note: SRL Members and above are not eligible

Post on the thread if you would like to enter. Scripts are due on the 10th of November 2014

Prize:

• A total prize pool of 250m RS3 GP and $20usd • 1st: 100m; 2nd: 60m; 3rd: 40m; 4th: 30m; 5th: 20m • Increased e-peen and respect at the oldest surviving RS botting community • Members will look favorably upon you if you ever apply for SRL Member • You will get the sought after SRL Competition Cup (only a handful of people have this) An additional$20usd will be sent to the winner via PayPal. Kindly donated by YoHoJo ($10) and Home ($10). Get amongst it!

I am currently putting up 100m. A big thanks to our donators: BMWxi 50m, Clarity 50m, and Jake 50m. Donations are welcome.

Script Guidelines:

Your script can be anything you like, as long as:
• It is for RS3
• It uses SRL6
• It has a simple progress report
• It is no more than 250 lines
• You haven't already released the script

A script that picks cabbages and eats them could literally win this competition and get you 10 months worth of bonds

Not required, but extra marks if you:

• Create and use a SPS map
• Use the SRL Player Form
• Create a custom TPA/ATPA function to find something

Marking Criteria:

• Effort (If you suck at scripting you can still win this - grades will be weighted against current scripting ability)
• Good use of the SRL6 include
• Correct code indentation
• Avoiding infinite loops
• Necessary failsafes
• Creativity

I will be judging all entries (I may consult SSRL and SRL Members). PM your script to me before the due date. Results will be released within 5 days of the competition closing.

Can you get help:

Yes you can! If you need help with your code, or have any questions, post them in the RS3 help section.

If you are interested in [potentially] making 1m GP per line of code and you don't know how to script, good places to start are these tutorials:

Current list of entrants:

Final list of people who sent in a submission (15):

Final list of people who formally withdrew (4):
• @o0Matthius0o <-- Ventured over to PowerBot and got his account banned
• @Blytez <-- Computer unfortunately exploded
• @uhit <-- No longer has a computer (but still active on forums)
• @Annonymus <-- Dog ate his script

Final list of people who did not submit anything (9):

Good Luck!

4. But osrs> rs3

5. Wow, this will be great! I think it's very important to note to everyone that may be reading this:
• This is not a difficult task.
• Members and above cannot apply, and therefore most people that have proven themselves in some manner already are inelligible.
• Competitions typically have few applicants due to everyone being scared that someone better is also competing. Don't feel this way. If you legitimately try, chances are you will take home one of the prizes (and let's be honest 30m isn't that bad).

6. I'm in.

Clarification request: does "already released" apply to outdated/broken scripts?

I assume he means you can't apply with scripts you've already released.

9. If you have any interest in scripting you should apply! Not only do you have a shot of winning some GP but it's a great way to improve your scripting.

Good luck everyone!

10. I'll be entering!

11. Have fun guys!

I was tempted...that cash prize...

Good luck to everyone! Like previous posters have mentioned, this is an awesome opportunity to come out of the woodwork and get some recognition! Or, if you don't script (yet...) there's literally nothing to lose in giving a stab at it: the worst case scenario is you learn more!

I am always thankful for that random day when I decided to stop lurking around and actually learn how this stuff works

Any script that has been written and distributed previously.

I'm talking about the script itself, not the script 'idea'. Of course you can write a powerminer

I highlighted effort for a reason. Grades will be slightly weighted against current scripting ability

21. I like the idea of the line limit, but I feel like it should perhaps be increased slightly to 400-500, especially if people choose to create custom function replacements. Whereas I could do mainscreenfindObj in 1 line, if I chose to write a custom one that would take up a much bigger chunk, and while I would get bonus points for the custom function, the entire script's potential would suffer.

250 lines is firm. You could write a multiplayer multi-city miner and banker with breaks in 250 lines if you knew what you were doing and made use of the SRL6 include.

Nvm, I now properly read that the competition calls for a lot of SRL-6 include use and only custom TPA/ATPA find functions. Agreed then
