    don't ask why
I'm sure that wasn't built before the code.. but it's ridiculous how crap has to be wired now
I think at most is like 2 on 1 switch (for residents not company/store buildings)
    1 fixture per switch? wat.
yes, lets put run 250 mA through a wire rated for 60 times that amount.
    this. wat. how. wat.

    idk
electricians are morons for the most part
they should be required to learn code so they can get some logic in their heads too
That and the whole outlet thing for USA outlets
the ground was meant to be on the top so:
if stuff falls on it, it's protected
when you pull it out of the socket, the ground is the last part to leave the socket
it doesn't look like a face and make little kids think they're friendly

yet.. there's "no code" for it so USA puts them in so they look like faces derp rip little kids

    everything is wrong

Well, yes, there is no code, but... Ground pin down. the text on GFCIs would be upside down if you put the ground pin up. Also, most polarized AC-DC adapters (for phones, routers, etc) are made to sit in a ground pin down much better (im talking about the old, big, bulky ones, not the new, tiny ones.

Also, imo, its easier to plug something in when the ground pin is down. Provided the plug has one, just slightly insert it and rock it upward.

    outlet face or gtfo

Yes it's easier, and unsafer, and worse in nearly every way, and not designed that way
    what's your point?
