Then you should know that you don't "code a botnet." You use a combination of client and server software (which you could code if you wanted but Poison Ivy and crypters exist so why bother), mass-distribution techniques, and time bomb-style execution.

The whole "botnet" part is pretty silly, though.

We need to know this rate to suggest better.

There's a slim chance I can hook you up with some legit computer work. I think they need a contractor to go through security reports and fix stuff like antivirus issues, patching vulnerabilities, stopping services, etc. You know some Linux, right? It's both operating systems.

You'll need to work up a letter/resume-like document to highlight your skills.

Don't you have insurance? I mean its illegal to drive without insurance in the UK, i'm assuming you are from the UK because you over use the word me instead of my; Even though you said you're driving to Chicago.

If you are good at coding and have some spare time on your hands, try selling custom made programs online and charge by the hour. Depends on how good you are though and on whether you can find one or two customers who need constant updates/maintenance/support, cause if you do, you just found a gold vein!

Try selling foreign currency with a small amount of capital. Can make large gains through margin trading. PM me if you want a website to help.
