    What if he had solar panels that already paid for themselves so the power was free.

    He gathered the water from a nearby stream/pond/sewer/puddle/used spit

    Then it could be under a dollar.

    Or... you could just go to walmart and buy some great value stuff for 2 dollars and not think..
