Default bot sites and legal regulations

    Hello villavu community
First of all best of wishes for everyone and I hope you guys have a nice time during the holiday season.
I have a question that I am thinking about for a long time namely:
Why can't jagex just sue bot sites like powerbot, tribot etc?
Those sites are up for many many years now and they clearly state that 'hacking/botting' is against their rules so a site that makes bots can't be legal right?
    Same for gold selling sites.

Jagex can't make laws. They can only make Terms of Service which allow them to ban specific users.

It's sort of like how when someone gets their posted deleted on the RS forums and then say "ITS MY FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH"

Breaking jagex TOS isn't against the law lol..

thx guys, weird though because if I remember right they sued the hell out of the developpers of a bot a few years ago, they had to pay a LOT of money and never could play jagex games anymore forgot the bot name though.

You can't sue people for making the bot or using the bot, but they have legal grounds to sue if your product, in some how, infringes on some of Jagex's copyrights. I wasn't playing RS at that time period, but I guessing that the bot makers must have used Jagex assets in the bots (images, names, or something) and then sold those products, which is a big no-no.

The bot you were referring to was one of the best developed bots of our time. NeXus was the name I believe. Their scripts were the best.

There should be some threads on Villavu - dating 2011ish which discussed this in-depth; this was a one article i found. But i remember more from years ago .

Nexus Ibot is the same thing as far as i know.

Something went wrong though. It's like saying T-Rex was best. In the end it's just an overrated chicken.

Well yeah, they got sued because that was the only way they could be taken care of. Nonetheless, their scripts were amazing.
