    Default Simba in Academia

    Hey SRL
    I thought the Simba developers would like to know that their work has been used in two of my graduate school experiments so far!
    In our specific situation, MATLAB simply wasn't working out. While more standard alternatives exist, Simba works perfectly for my and my research partners' needs. We can collect, record, and analyze results data automatically with ease. Simba's abilities to play sounds, run batch scripts, and read/write INI files are particularly useful here.

    One of our experiment GUIs:

    Writing results to INI files:
    Code:
    [3]
    1=PITCH: A#2, RESPONSE: C (INCORRECT), TIME: 4516ms
    2=PITCH: C#5, RESPONSE: A (INCORRECT), TIME: 15766ms
    3=PITCH: C3, RESPONSE: C (CORRECT), TIME: 6172ms
    4=PITCH: C6, RESPONSE: C (CORRECT), TIME: 3562ms
    5=PITCH: B4, RESPONSE: B (CORRECT), TIME: 4390ms
    6=PITCH: C2, RESPONSE: C (CORRECT), TIME: 6016ms
    7=PITCH: B5, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 2672ms
    8=PITCH: C#6, RESPONSE: C (INCORRECT), TIME: 6422ms
    9=PITCH: F3, RESPONSE: A# (INCORRECT), TIME: 3172ms
    10=PITCH: D#4, RESPONSE: B (INCORRECT), TIME: 9485ms
    11=PITCH: C5, RESPONSE: C (CORRECT), TIME: 7515ms
    12=PITCH: F#2, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 5016ms
    13=PITCH: C#4, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 5687ms
    14=PITCH: F6, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 4390ms
    15=PITCH: G3, RESPONSE: C (INCORRECT), TIME: 2750ms
    16=PITCH: F5, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 3610ms
    17=PITCH: A4, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 7000ms
    18=PITCH: C#2, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 7734ms
    19=PITCH: A3, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 1938ms
    20=PITCH: E6, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 1828ms
    21=PITCH: E5, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 2891ms
    22=PITCH: F#6, RESPONSE: C (INCORRECT), TIME: 3157ms
    23=PITCH: E4, RESPONSE: C (INCORRECT), TIME: 5344ms
    24=PITCH: B2, RESPONSE: A (INCORRECT), TIME: 2109ms
    25=PITCH: A#3, RESPONSE: UNSURE, TIME: 7812ms
    The experiment above is attempting to teach participants absolute pitch (like a photographic memory equivalent for sound) via color pairing, and evaluate the ability's retention. Might figure out a way to have Simba create a spreadsheet of results automatically, but I don't know if that's possible at the moment.

    Simba is truly versatile! What will people use it for next?

    Many thanks Simba devs! And thanks to @Obscurity; for ezForm which made this much easier to create, and @Brandon; for ProSocks

    Pfft like we'll fall for that, this is clearly just an advertisement for ezform.

    Looks sexy man, thanks for sharing.

    This is really cool! And yes, you can make a spreadsheet. You just need horizontal tabs (#9) to shift columns. I made a bunch of tables for my D&D campaign with Simba.

    I meant more like an .xlsx export, but this works too. Neat stuff, thanks Citrus!

    Out of curiosity, why do you want to export to xlsx (over csv etc.)?

    That's actually really cool, didn't expect to see this used in school projects honestly lol. Shows you how awesome Simba is .
